After a very long day – train ride, new city, noisy restaurants we go back to the hotel for a quiet evening. I had just settled on the bed when this very loud noise sounded.
I jumped off the bed and went to the door. So did Mummy who was already in her PJs. We looked outside but no one was there. So Mummy went back to her computer. And I went back on the bed. Eventually the noise stopped.
Minutes later it sounded again and this time it didn’t stop – Mummy said – it’s probably a false alarm so she continued typing away when someone knocked on the door. We were told to leave the room. As it’s cold outside, Mummy got dressed!!! She put on her coat and boots and decided to put on her jewellery and then realised she should also take her bag. Then she put on my collar and lead. We walked out to the lobby and saw firemen and the hotel staff. Right then the alarm went off. Mummy asked if we still needed to go outside. Yes, we were told.
When we emerged from the building, we saw TWO fire engines and all the hotel guests across the street!
We were the last ones out. Everyone else was standing across the street in bathrobes or in skimpy party wear whereas Mummy was fully clothed!
May’s comment: Yes, a little too relaxed but I’ve been in quite a few false alarms. I felt a little bad for everyone else who were in bathrobes and cocktail dresses. I obviously was the only one who took my time to get outside. Could have been toast if it was real. Thankfully it was a false alarm.
Darcy sensed something was wrong. When we were standing outside, she looked at everyone on the pavement and then moved closer to me and sat by my feet.
