Woohoo! After a four year hiatus, once again there will be dogs in the White House from January.
The Bidens have two German shepherds – Champ and Major.
The family has had Champ since 2008 when Biden was Vice President, so he knows the grounds.
In 2018 the Bidens fostered Major for several months before formally adopting him from the Delaware Humane Association.
Major will be the first rescue dog in the White House. That’s another first from this weekend!
From George Washington to Barack Obama, dogs has been the preferred pet!
JFk had nine dogs!!!
Richard Nixon had three – King Timahoe (Irish Setter), Vicky (poodle), Pasha (terrier)
Gerald Ford had a golden retriever named Liberty.
Jimmy Carter had a border collie named Grits
Ronald Reagan had two dogs – a Bouvier des Flandres named Lucky and a Charles Spaniel named Rex.
George H.W. Bush also had two Springer Spaniels – Millie and Ranger
Bill Clinton had a chocolate Labrador named Buddy.
George W. Bush had an English Cocker Spaniel named Spot
And two Scottish Terriers – Barney and Miss Beazley.
The Obamas had two Portuguese Water dogs – Bo and Sunny.
Often seen running with the President.
There’s been a four year hiatus but now dogs are back in the White House. After all, “a house is not a home without a dog!”
Not that I will be visiting the White House any time soon, but I am afraid of German Shepherds. LOL!

That is good know! Very interesting. Major was actually a rescue dog and now he moves into the White House..
I am so proud that I voted for President – Elect Biden! Then I found out about Champ and Major, both rescue dogs! They will make the White House an even homier and cooler place in which to live.
Dogs add so much to our lives! Just an FYI, President George H. W. Bush’s dog, Millie, had puppies in the White House. Millie also wrote a book, “Millie’s Book”, about life in the White House from a dog’s perspective.
