Mummy took us on a trip today to Seaford. She’s going there for some meeting but she told us it is also a very special place for her. She said this was almost the beginning of how she came about to getting me.
We arrived at Florence House
and went about investigating the gardens.
And played
And tumbled
Some ear biting
There were water features that Georgie took to easily
Worth checking out – is that a red ball in the pond?
Oh, it’s a flower
Mummy was using her proper camera – LOL!
There were walled gardens
And we went from one to another
The hedges made good agility practice.
George loved it!!!
We also met Sally who is a resident dog
And George made friends with her.
Sally was guarding her garden while we two crazies ran like wild wolves!
Sally says – better follow those two!
Sometimes we needed a rest in the shade as it was quite warm.
We were so happy to see Mairi again – she used to take care of me when I was still a puppy and Mummy had to go away.

But there were also quiet moments to ponder about life, as the humans would say
It was here, Mummy told us, that led her to consider having a dog in her life. So I guess we are going back to the source of the “inspiration”.
At day’s end we were ready to go home.
As we boarded the train for Brighton and then London Victoria, Mummy told us she was really glad we were with her.
May’s comments: It had been an interesting day for me – to return to Florence House where I had been for a “retreat” five years ago. Sometimes we meet people for a reason. And it was during my time here at Florence House for a retreat that I met someone whom I call “person for a reason”. “Person for a reason” loves dogs. And thought – maybe I will get a dog too so we have something in common. LOL!
It wasn’t as simple as that. The idea was planted in my head at the right time. After the end of a long relationship, the home was rather quiet. I wanted to come home to a living being. I was no longer enslaved to a desk job or a travelling one for that matter. I had no “important” pinging Blackberries in the middle of the night. Life was at my beck and call.
I met “person for a reason” at Florence House who gave me the idea. And he assisted with the idea and facilitated an accidental meeting of a cockapoo owner. The rest is history.
So it was the first time in five years since I’ve been back. There are magical places within the garden walls.
I remembered long solitude walks on the downs by the cliffs – they are dramatic and scary at the same time.
This time I can share it with my doggies.

Thank you for telling your story of how you came to be a dog owner, I also have two Cockapoo’s who are my life now I am a single, they are my life. Some people question why I devote so much time to them and cannot understand.
What a treat to see you again Darcy.
So pleased wee Georgie and you have now come to such a special place and now you know why your mummy wanted to come back and visit.
Delighted too, to see how well Georgie is doing. He looks a different dog from when I first met him. Clearly all the love he’s having and belonging to his best family ever has let him thrive.
Just loved seeing you and your brother tear round the grounds exploring the many garden areas, meeting Sally and spotting rabbits and squirrels everywhere. Looked like you had a perfect summer days outing.
I do hope to see all three of you back at Florence House again sometime soon.
More roast beef for you when you come….xxx
