Goodbye, Lucca

IMG_9544

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

“I just loved him so much. I didn’t know it would hurt so much.” – Lucca’s mum.

Lucca Conway: 1 April 2012 – 7 September 2023

May’s comment: Lucca and his parents were a part of the early Hyde Park Cockapoos meets. We met in 2013.

Dash, Rusty, George and Lucca at Darcy’s bench.

Over the years, Lucca, Darcy and Rusty got together often. We went for walkies, we celebrated their birthdays, we went through losing loved ones and even a divorce.

Lucca, we will never forget you. You were the gentlest and most beautiful boy. You are now with your dad. And Darcy was there to greet you today.

  1. So sorry Lucca’s passed on. He looked so handsome. The sadness we feel at their passing is the price for all the love we shared. I’m dreading the time when Archie passes – he’s 11 now so we’re making the most of the time we have together.

  2. I am sorry that Lucca has passed. He was so handsome. I loved seeing him in the group pictures of the happy quartet. He will be missed by those of us who only saw him in photos. Rest In Peace Dear One.
