Today my mood is like the weather!
Still sulking … not sure yet where we were going.
Hooray! We’re at the park! It stopped raining and Mummy couldn’t wait to get me there fast enough!
And I’m off chasing squirrels.
And meeting friends!
This is Flynn – a cross between a Tibetan Terrier and a Cocker Spaniel – we were told. What does that make him – I’d hate to imagine.
And one last attempt at a squirrel before leaving the park.
Muddy legs but hey! It’s worth it!

Hello Darcy, tell me about your aquafleece. I know that it caused you matting problems, but is it safe for a cockapoo with long hair? I have just brought Molly back from the park where she transformed herself into a Gnasher look-a-like in seconds by running through deep muddy puddles up to her armpits…
Mummy uses it carefully. It is definitely effective – my body and upper legs are bone dry while my paws and under belly (where exposed) are all black and wet! Because now that my hair is still relatively short, it seems fine but must be brushed out after taking it off. Do not keep it on for long periods and especially after running in it, it will definitely matt. It has it’s use but don’t over rely on it. When taking a walk in the rain (which I do not like anyway) better to use a water proof rain coat – one that is not heavy and weighs down on the body. Does this make sense?
That does make sense, thank you. I’m not sure about getting one yet: Molly’s fur mats/felts so easily: once I have brushed her the hair that I take from the brush has already felted. Amazing really!
I wouldn’t bother if you’re unsure. I have heard other poos also getting matted from it. It’s quite tight fitting and that’s probably the worst part of it. And actually nothing else will keep the mud away because they all have the bellies exposed. The raincoats are good for walking in the rain to keep most of the body from getting soaked. It’s more for the humans than the poos.
Thanks May: I see what you mean. The waterproof coats for the rain are good, keeping quite a lot of Molly dry. I think that I will learn from yours and Darcy’s experience and stick to towelling dry and the odd extra bath when she is too smelly!! I think that some fox poo may have been in the mix today…
Look into getting a micro fibre Doggy Bag – best for use in the car after a wet walk and also good for drying them after a bath. You can get one on Amazon. Highly recommend a Pet Angel brush – they love it! It’s been specially designed by Richard Ward Hairdressers for pets – after their successful human version. And I love using Aroma Paws on Darcy for shampoo – she smells so good! Difficult to find but they stock them at Purple Bone.
Thank you for the tip on the Pet Angel brush: I have been wondering what to get now that Miss Molly has such long hair. Her slicker works pretty well but I’ve a feeling that the anti-tangle brush might do an easier job. I like the idea of aromatherapy shampoo too!
