“Come back soon.” That’s what they said to us the last time we were in Scotland. That was early January 2023. Has it been that long? Well, we are back in Edinburgh – it will be Lulu’s first time visiting Scotland. And this is the first of a four day whirlwind tour of some of Scotland’s finest.
We took a very early train from London’s King Cross Station to Edinburgh’s Waverly. The fast train took just over four hours.

George and Lulu are good travellers and they snoozed all the way north.
We opted not to go on the Caledonian Sleeper as I didn’t want to wake up at the crack of dawn in Edinburgh after a not so comfortable night sleep. And we were invited to stay The Balmoral, which is just a short walk from Waverly train station.

We had a beautiful room with a view of Edinburgh Castle.

The Balmoral was one of the great railway hotels founded in the golden era of steam. To this day its majestic clock tower plays an important role in the Edinburgh skyline. From royal families and heads of state to cultural icons from every era, The Balmoral has been home to eminent figures over its 120 years.

And we are so grateful to be able to experience it as guests of this luxury ROCCO FORTE Hotel.
George and Lulu were royally pampered just like the royals who stayed there. Their executive pastry chef, Ross Sneddon baked them personalised biscuits, they each had a monogrammed blanket and a basket of other goodies to take home.

When they were unable to join us for afternoon tea at The Palm Court, Little Royals Dog Sitters took them on a long walk and did some sightseeing of Edinburgh.

Thank you, Balmoral Hotel for having us.
This was the first of our four day visit to Scotland with our friend, Margaret of @KitchenChat. More of that later. First of many afternoon teas and whisky tasting.
