BORING!!!!
We sat in the car – dinky George, Charlie (not the HRH but the cockapoo) and me – the whole time Mummy and Sarah had lunch and went shopping at Highgrove (albeit for an hour).
As we drove in, we were stopped at the gate to speak to the policeman at security check point. He saw me sitting on Mummy’s lap on the front seat – and he thought it was a strange-looking passenger 🙂 – he was suspicious of us but not for long when he realised it was just me!
As we drove on, we saw beautifully manicured lawns and fields of green. We doggies were all excited. Were we going to get to run?
Then we drove into this parking area …
The gentleman told Sarah to park her car under the shade – very nice of them. I didn’t know why but as Mummy and Sarah were getting out of the car, we realised – uh oh! We’re not going with them.
I want to go with you! Let me out of here! Or just let me run on the grass!
But to no avail. We three sat in the car and kept our eyes on the building where Mummy and Sarah disappeared into. We watched as cars drove in. And even saw a helicopter land nearby.
Mummy never likes to leave us in the car – she’s too terrified if anything should happen to us. But in this instance she is mighty relaxed. Guess no one is going to come and steal us when at Highgrove. And it was a very cool day so we were all snuggled up inside.
They soon came trotting back with bags of shopping. Did I hear you burping, Mummy dearest? And any goodies for us? None?!?!?! Think Highgrove shops should re-think their product strategies.
Well, I gathered we were not allowed out on the grounds. So we said goodbye to Highgrove – the car park for us.
We headed towards Westonbirt Arboreterum – for a short walk.
Charlie was looking at his Mummy wondering what she was doing – digging into her bag looking for something. Treats, you think Charlie?
Well, that was a short walk – we ended up in the marquee for yet another cup of tea.
Charlie and George started playing – those boys! But I wasn’t joining in – they’re dominating each other. There are more interesting things on the table.
Anyway, we left before it started to get dark even though the pretty lights on the trees were just coming on.
On the way to the train station, we drove past Highgrove. A little way down the road, Mummy suddenly let out a yelp! She just spotted Prince Charles standing by the roadside – he was by himself leaning on a walking stick. I guess he was surveying his land.
May’s comment: Wasn’t exactly expecting to see Prince Charles himself, least of all standing by the roadside on his own. Would have made a good photo!
It was all in all a lovely Winter’s day – cold, crisp but not freezing and wish we had a chance to let the doggies run around but not George. He’s forbidden off lead for now!
Anyway, back to Kemble train station – train was cancelled, waited over an hour for the next one to Swindon. And finally on a train back to Paddington. And home.
