First and foremost, wear a rain coat! π
Truth be told, I don’t like the rain. I’m happy not to have to go out but of all days, Mummy had things to do. So the choice then is to stay home or go along. Hmmm. I guess it’s not much of a choice.
So we made our way – taking the bus before getting on a tube to Oxford Circus.
MummyΒ – do you think thatΒ sign says we can sit here?Β
What? Only when there is no need to give it up for mummies with human babies? Β But I sit like one on your lap – how would they know the difference?
When we take the tube, Mummy had to carry me onto every escalator asΒ she is supposed to and because I don’t like getting onΒ them.
Today when we sat down in the tube, theΒ lady in the next seat hurriedly got up and moved away, mumbling under her breath – she didn’t like us sitting next to her. Β Thankfully other passengers smiled at us and confirmed without saying anything that she was a little overreacting! Β Phew!
As we got off at Oxford Circus, Mummy suddenly feltΒ hungry! π She just needed an excuse to go to lunch at Liberty’s Cafe. Β We walked up the lovely old staircase …
To the Cafe on the third floor.
And there we met another cockapoo – Betty!
After lunch we had a little wander
Before we set off again – this time to a place of tiles called DOMUS! We wanted to announce our arrival – Β we’re JUST IN!
Oh, I see a big letter “S” – and reminded me of Little Tyke aka Sasha. He’ll be coming soon to visit. Can’t wait to see him again – haven’t seen him since last year January.Β
After spending a long time looking at tiles and more tiles, seems like we were wandering around the place in circles,
we finally left to go home. Β And this is how I felt – wet and tired. Not a happy bunny.
On the tube again, this time we could not find an end seat so asked the passenger before we sat down if she minded if we sat next to her. Β Of course not! It turned out she’s from the Isle of Wight and sheΒ has aΒ cockapoo called Coco! Β What a difference to our earlier experience.
We were almost home, whenΒ we stopped for a cuppa and something “red and velvet” at the Bluebird Food Store – to make Mummy feel better for being drenched and having to carry me upΒ every escalator even though I had veryΒ wet paws. Β
Looking and wishing that Mummy would give me some.Β But I can only look at what was being consumed.
So here I am after we got home – perfectly clean and dry under my neoprene coat but not my head and legs.
And I hear you ask – where’s Georgie? Well, he had a play date with Picachu who lives around the corner from us.
Because itΒ wasΒ a rainy day, his mummy asked if theyΒ could play together instead of park walks. And they both play endlessly.
This is Georgie, groggy after waking up from a nap when Mummy went to get him.
May’s comment: Β We are on all sorts of transportation all the time and it’s very seldom we have a negative reaction. When taking the tube, weΒ always try to sit at the end seat just to minimise being next to commuters who might not appreciate a dog. Β Today, in a not so crowded train, when we took the end seat, the woman next to us jumped up in disgust and moved away mumbling under her breath. Β I looked up across from us and three other passengers looked at us, smiled and shook their heads at the overreaction of that passenger. Just needed little affirmation that we’re ok.
Thought for the day – not so great going out on a rainy day with dogs especially when you have to carry them with wet paws up escalators!

MissDarcy,, I always feel sorry for you when you look longingly at mummys Goodies.
Maggie, please keep feeling sorry for me and start a petition for Mummy to always share her goodies! π
Darcey – where did you get that lovely rain coat? You look very smart in it π
Can you really take your dog into Liberty’s cafe? Have you thought about creating a directory of dog accepted places in London? That would be really helpful
Hi Lisa, yes to Liberty’s and it’s cafe. Super dog friendly – the nicest dept store in London just for that reason. That said you can also go into Fenwick on Bond Street – at Selfridges you have to be able to carry them. So we looked a little ridiculous when I walked in with Darcy in my arms!!! There’s a tab on our blog that lists all the dog friendly restaurants and places we’ve been to. As well as all the places we’ve travelled to but will attempt to do a singular tab.
