In memory of Willow

This is our Willow’s Wishbone – in memory of Willow – the little dog that stole many of our hearts.

She may have left us back in September last year, but her memory lives on.

A lovely lady called Sarah made a Willow Wishbone Christmas tree ornament in memory of Willow.  Many have asked Sarah if she could make one for them. That was when Sarah along with Willow’s mummy, Hayley decided to set up a charity fund to help other animals in need –  in memory of Willow.  That way Willow’s memory lives on in a really positive way.

Because there was such a huge demand for Willow’s Wishbone, we only just got ours today.  Thank you Sarah.

We thought it is appropriate to hang it alongside a print about Cockapoos –The print hangs amongst our portrait gallery. That way Willow will be amongst us – in spirit and always in our thoughts.

And if we can have one wish – we wish you will come home to where you belong.

R.I.P. Willow. You brought a lot of joy to your mummy and daddy. And when we heard that you weren’t coming home two months after you were “lost” – you broke many, many hearts and there were endless tears.   🙁

May’s comment:  Many did not want to believe it was true.  Many wanted to help make it right and to investigate why and what happened.  Many felt helpless by being so far away.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Sarah, one of the many of us who grieved alongside Hayley and Ross made a pink glittery Willow Wishbone Christmas ornament for Hayley’s tree.  But she received so many requests for the bones that she and Hayley decided to set up a charity in memory of Willow.

They found a small local charity in Biggleswade to support. R.A.T.S. Animal Rescue is a very small volunteer charity for rehoming and rescue for all animals. None of their animals are put to sleep unless it’s because they are too sick to cure.

R.A.T.S. was there and supportive of Ross and Hayley the whole time the search for Willow went on.

It is small organisations like these that needs our help. So far over £1200 have been donated to R.A.T.S.

The demand for Willow Wishbone kept going way past Christmas and since then there have been special orders for Valentine’s. Sarah is still taking orders if you wish to have one to remember Willow by or to donate towards a good cause to help rescue other animals. There’s a Willows Wish Bone Facebook page set up for requests.

Willow’s tragic end touched many of our hearts.  We will not forget this unforgivable crime on an innocent beautiful being who was someone’s pet, someone’s best friend. Everything that happened – if it was a human life – would have been a suspicious crime worthy of investigation.  In the eyes of the law, the decaying body found was just a dog lost.

We know that someone out there knows what happened to Willow. We still hope that they will come forth to help give Hayley and Ross some closure.

And just as that little pink Wishbone shimmers in the light, I still hold onto that faint glimmer of hope, a wish – that Willow is still somewhere to be found.
