It’s all in the stitching …

A few months ago, Mum did an interview for the Wall Street Journal who was doing a piece about luxury dog accessories. She was speaking as the co-founder of @DogBrief, an Instagram platform to bring brand, product and service awareness to the discerning dog-owning community. WSJ wanted DogBrief’s take on the luxury world of dog accessories.

This was the article that appeared on the 3 April, 2021 featuring Pagerie, probably the first uber luxury pet brand.

In short, it is the Hermès of the pet world!

Though Mum had only seen the Pagerie’s The Dórro collar on short-haired dogs, she thought the colour would suit me well – it would be understated but well-crafted. The REACH-certified, ultra-luxurious grain leather was soft to the touch and Mum was intrigued with the turnlock.

There are two ways to fasten the collar. The front has an adjustable buckle to make sure it fits well while the back of the collar has Pagerie’s signature turnlock which allows for easy closure and lock to secure. All the hardware is made of stainless steel.

The matching lead, The Tascher is an elegant multi-tasker of a lead that can be adjusted to three different lengths – as a cross body leash to free your hands, or training your dog to walk beside you or allowing extra leeway. It can also be used on two dogs at once.

It comes accessorised with a matching doggie bag pouch.

We need some pink or neutral coloured poo bags to match! Somehow green and black just wouldn’t sit right. LOL!

And all the items were presented in an elegant beige coloured box.

May’s comment: We adore The Dórro collar for Darcy. It is a satisfyingly soft and well-crafted collar made from REACH-certified luxurious grain leather. With precision stitching, the understated sand colour and a finish that definitely filled the brief for something considered and something more soigné. I knew as soon as I opened the packaging that I wanted to meet Mandy Madden Kelley, the Visionaire behind Pagerie – a new level of haute design for pet accessories.

Mandy’s vision was to provide dog owners with an understated and distinctive look for accessories that speak volumes about the owner’s style and the care we invest in our pets.

We had stumbled upon Pagerie when Belinda and I, the co-founders of @DogBrief were researching stylish and well-crafted dog accessory brands. We could tell that Pagerie was worlds apart from anything else we have ever featured to date.

We liked the design and thoughtfulness they have put into their extensive research-sourced materials so that Pagerie’s manufacturing processes minimise waste and environmental impact.

And where did the name, Pagerie come from?

It was inspired by the French Empress, Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie, the first wife of Emperor Napoleon I. She was a strong, independent woman who sought companionship not from her consort but from Fortuné, her much treasured Pug.  So it seemed a fitting association.

Pagerie’s current range also includes two harnesses – The Babbi Harness and The Colombo Harness

The Babbi Harness takes its inspiration from a saddle. It is meticulously made and designed to be supremely comfortable, with an attachable quilt padding for a welcome layer of warmth on chilly mornings.

The Colombo Harness is a breathable harness for every day, yet the style is far from everyday. Welcomed air ventilation is thanks to the distinctive ‘peek-a-boo’ cut-out on the back.

More products are currently in development.

The Dorro collar and The Tascher leash arrived in a beige box with a drawer compartment. The products were encased in a cotton dust bag.

And just like all the luxury brands, it has it’s own authentication card with serial number.

Just can’t take my eyes off the collar when Darcy’s wearing it. It’s both subtle and luxurious.

Check out @DogBrief – an Instagram platform with an editorial feel, showcasing a curation of quality, lifestyle products and services for dogs and their owners.  It is our way of bringing brand, product and service awareness to a discerning dog-owning community.
