After a six-hour train ride, we arrived back in London but instead of going home, we ended up at Claridge’s Hotel. I am not sure why we were there.
But I was warmly welcomed by everyone – the hotel guests, the Manager, the Concierge, the lady who checked us in – so they like dogs. That’s nice.
We went to the room and thought – this is not home. When are we leaving? Surely we are not staying in another strange place.
Then Mummy and Aunty Meg went downstairs to have tea and I hung out with Melissa and drank water from the silver fruit bowl.
They had to have their Cornish cream tea since we did not do that when in Cornwall and Claridge’s does serve Cornish cream tea.
Doing it the Cornish way – jam first and then cream on top
Melissa took me shopping with her – we went out for a while and then I got bored and decided to go back to the hotel. It was when we were in the lobby that I saw Mummy in the tea room – I was straining to run towards her, pawing frantically on the marble floors and making no further than the doorway. I was pretty upset when Melissa took me back to the room. I didn’t really understand what was happening.
Finally we all left the hotel.
