Little Lady Lulu – we commemorate her one year anniversary of her Gotcha Day with a larger than life portrait.
Her portrait by Sara Abbott hangs in our hallway next to Darcy’s and George’s portraits.
I remember way back when I first got Darcy and thought it was ridiculous that anyone would have paintings of their dogs done. I also thought it was ridiculous that dog wore clothes. I am proof that people can change their minds about things if convinced.
Well, one day when I was at Harrod’s Pet Kingdom (back in those days when there was one) I saw Sara Abbott painting the most lifelike dog portraits. Oh, I thought, I must get one of Darcy done. And voila!
All of Sara’s portraits have a charitable aspect to it. She donated £100 for every commission to help animals less fortunate than our own. Darcy’s portrait went to Nowzad – to raise funds to help the street dogs in Afghanistan.
And that was the beginning of our dog gallery wall. So when George came along, Sara asked when she can do George …
That was my birthday present!
And of course when Lulu came along, it was without doubt that the last space on that wall had to be hers.
Love her wonky smile and her eyes are no longer sad. She has come a long way, Miss Lulu.
And this time, part of the proceeds went to her charity – Harbin Slaughter House Survivors.
Sara takes commissions. She meets you and your dog in person, photographs them and you select your favourite photo.
