We’ve been watching the new Safehouse at Harbin Slaughterhouse Survivors being built – this new safehouse just outside of the village will be helpful should there be another lockdown.
In the recent weeks, they’ve had to manage all the lockdown measures with hundreds of animals in the village Safehouse with two members of staff who thankfully have tested negative.
Work has begun to build a new safehouse which will be able to house over 600 dogs, cats, pigs, foxes, etc. and we hope some hoomans who can help keep them all safe.
As soon as they could they have started moving some of the dogs over, even while the building works are ongoing. Over 30 dogs are now enjoying the new grounds in the midst of all the construction going on.
Room ‘A’ is starting to take shape …
but then there’s Room ‘B’, ‘C’ downstairs, ‘C’ upstairs, ‘D’, piggery, small animal room, cattery, foxy, and , and, and …
There is a huge shortfall and they are in need of help to finish this so all the animals in the current overcrowded-in-the-village Safehouse to this place where the animals actually has outdoor grassy areas to enjoy.

May’s comment: When Darcy passed, we had set up a Just Giving page for Harbin SHS Animal Rescue to channel the sadness into something positive.
We have been so blessed with the response and over £4000 from Darcy’s Just Giving Page are going towards the building of the new Safehouse base. Our contribution probably helped to build one wall …
But the project costs is about US$348,000/£280,000.
After their first phase of fund raising, they have reached US$90,332.
They are still in need of US$257,867.06/£209,424.

In a country where wages and the cost of living so low, I am amazed that building this facility is costing the same as a house in parts of London.
It may ge the old cynic in me but little of the finds kindhearted people give to some charities reach their target.
I hope these animals are safeguarded.
You should read there Instagram posts to learn about what they do. It is not just a house they are building, but a complex of buildings. They bought the land so that they cannot be evicted. Due to the pandemic, they couldn’t send any dogs for rehoming and today they have over 600 animals – and they have a no kill policy. They are constantly saving animals from dog meat trucks, stray dogs, abandoned pets. And they work with both well-established rescue agencies in the UK and US who wouldn’t work with them if they are not honest.
