Look up at the heavens and you will see me there.
There’s a star in the Ursa Minor constellation, also known as the Little Bear that’s named after me!
And tonight, I am up there shining brightly.

May’s comment: Darcy left us today at 6.18pm – exactly one month since the day of her surgery in December when they discovered that she had hemangiasarcoma.
Our friend and neighbour, Fiona commemorated Darcy with naming a star after her. So every time I look up in the heavens, I can find her shining brightly in the Northern skies.

Darcy suddenly took a turn for the worse late Thursday afternoon and gradually over the evening her back legs gave way. In the night, she had also lost control of her bladder. On Friday, I took her to the vet for an assessment and they said that as soon as the back legs go, there is no reversal. It was time to let her go.
I was determined to have Peter, the vet who had seen Darcy from when she was a pup to be the one. However, he was unavailable till Monday. I made the appointment, believing that with training pads in hand, we could surely make it through the weekend. The vet advised that if Darcy deteriorated further, it would be kind to let her go before Monday afternoon. Alas, Friday night became a constant battle with the bladder that she could no longer control, and painful to watch her trying to manoeuvre her body while her legs failed her. She also got sick and it was altogether a restless night for the both of us. And this morning, she refused breakfast and treats. I knew the time had come.
Scheduling an appointment for euthanasia was an unfamiliar and somewhat surreal call to the vet this morning. I asked for the evening slot because we had half a dozen friends coming into London to see Darcy all day. And one by one we told them that she will be leaving us. Many tears later, it was time.
Andy, the cab driver whom we met during the lockdown came specially to pick us up and waited for me when I went in to the vet with Darcy. The whole process was calm, it was quick and it was a surreal experience. My once healthy, speedy, greedy, fluffy poo bear became still, and with two puffs of air, her heart had stopped.
When she was ill, thoughts of the future without Darcy was upsetting. Now with her gone, memories of her right next to me wherever I was brings such an emptiness in my heart.
I have been grateful for all the support and the love, and humbled by the kind words showered upon us. We have met so many people through this blog and some have become important people in our lives – and I know they will live on because Darcy was not just special to me but also to those who knew her.
I love you, my darling girl. We had a good run. I was the happiest when I was discovering new things with you. Run free with no more pain and illness. Now you can reunite with all your friends and cousin who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, as well as Mr. Butt. He will definitely remember you.

We will spend the remaining weeks till Darcy’s birthday at the end of February to share our learnings and experiences whilst living with the “C”. After that George and I will continue Darcy’s legacy of helping to make the world more open to dogs. And George will just have to help me tick off those bucket lists.

Oh May, I am so sorry. I have followed your adventures with the pups for years. You are the best dog mom ever. Darcy was a lovely girl. Dogs are angels on earth, with their unconditional love. It is so hard to let them go and this sounds so sudden. Heartbreaking.
My heart hurts for you. Run free Miss Darcy. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful life.
May,
I am so very sorry for your loss.
Darcy was one of a kind and larger than life. She brought me smiles daily.
She was Pippa’s first and best friend in London.
Together, you and Darcy changed the footprint of what is is to have a best furry friend on the London food and travel scene.
She lives on in our hearts.
I feel like so many of us lost a friend tonight.
Big hugs to George, I am sure he is lost without her.
All our love,
Pippa and Sian

Darcey may you Rest in Peace sweet pup.

I am shocked and numb that Darcy has left this world. I cannot begin to even think what you must be feeling right now and only hope through the beautiful memories you made together that your heart heals in time. We met Darcy whilst holidaying with our poo dogs in Norfolk, she was just about to go on the beach at Wells Next to the sea and i feel priviliged to have had that small moment with her. We are all so so sorry for your loss. Run free now Darcy grow your wings and let them take you over rainbow bridge where all of your friends are waiting, look over your human family until you see them again. Night night god bless xxxxx

Oh May, I am truly heartbroken to read this and crying for a little dog I never met. My heart just breaks for you as I absolutely know that you will be beyond heartbroken to have lost your darling girl. I’ve followed you since beautiful Miss D was 3, and lived all of your wonderful adventures vicariously. I know I cant send you a card, but please know that I loved her, that special little girl who brought such joy into my every day live with her beautiful posts. 💔💔💔
I am so so sorry for your loss May. I openly sobbed reading this news even though we knew it was coming. Love and hugs to you and George! RIP beautiful girl 💔😭 xx
Oh May, I am so sorry. This is heartbreaking. It is so difficult to comprehend considering she deteriorated so quickly. My thoughts are with you from Australia (also know as KhloeEllaharry on Instagram). Sending you big hugs and sending you the strength to carry on. What a beautiful girl Darcy was, and thank you for sharing your adventures. Thinking of George also, as he is probably wondering where his sister is. I am shedding tears for you both. Lots of love. Sharon xxxx
Miss Darcy and May were the first dog blog we found when I got Tammy. They showed us how to travel the world, their adventures made us smile, they opened up a world of possibilities for us to have our dogs with us as much as possible. We never met May or Miss Darcy in person but appreciated the advice we received from the blog, via email etc. Crying with you today. And sending much love and sympathy to May, George and everyone whose lives Moss Darcy touched.. and there were clearly many.
Dearest Darcy the London dog scene will not be the same without you. You and your beautiful Mamma will always be an inspiration to us to live life to the full.
💔💔💔
My heart is broken in million pieces right now May and George. You gave Darcy the best life and in return she gave you the best love. I haven’t got any words to express the sadness I feel right now and I can barely type through the tears with Olly worried at the side of me wondering why I am so sad. So long dear Miss Darcy it was lovely to know you and lovely to watch your journey here on Earth, until we meet again sweet girl. And May, I wish I could give you a big long hug to comfort your broken heart a little but I know George is there and he will know what to do. Sending you both all of our love <3

I am so sorry for your loss May I loved reading about yours and Darcys adventures. My dog Poppy came from the same breeder as Darcy and we actually got to meet at crufts one year.
Darcy had a full and happy life with you and George and you were with her at the end, no dog could ask for more. We could all see how much she was loved and adored.
Run free beautiful girl, free from pain
Take care May x
So sorry for your loss.
We have two Cockapoos which are still only six years old but I know we’ll feel the same when the time comes.
God bless you for giving her a great life.
Sending you and George lots of love. Darcy was and will always be one of the biggest and brightest stars that have brighten many hearts. Sorry for your loss ❤❤❤
So very sorry for your loss of Miss Darcy! I never got to meet either of you but you were so kind as to let so many of us share your adventures! It was such a treat to see the 2 of you go so many places and see so much – always together! Thank you for bringing such light and love to the world! Fly Free with No More Pain Over the Rainbow, Miss Darcy!! And one day you all will be Together Furever!! ❤🌈🐕❤
May, I am in floods of tears this morning to learn that Miss Darcy has gone to heaven. We have an 11 year old Cockapoo called Lola, so cannot imagine how your heart is broken. She and you packed more into her life than most people do, so you should be so proud. Together you were able to break down barriers and to experience all that you did and to share your travels with us. It’s because you loved her so much, that the next few days, months, years will be really hard. She was your friend, supporter, confidente, escort, adventurer, companion but mostly Miss Darcy was a beautiful dog and the streets of London, and many other destinations will be a lot quieter, boring and a little less fun. She was an extroidinary dog and you are an amazing owner. Sending you and George much love from us and Lola xxx
Dear May,
We are all heartbroken to hear about Darcy’s passing, we were literally just going to bed when Roxy came into the room crying as she had just heard the sad news. She needed a cuddle and we all had a cry. We loved to follow Darcy’s adventures and you gave her such an amazing life. She was definitely one in a million and it was an honour to meet her. To have a star named after Darcy will hopefully bring you and George some comfort and we will definitely be looking up to heaven and remembering her.
We send you all our love, and wish you and George many more bucket list adventures with Darcy looking down on you from above.
Love always
Alex, Matt, Yazmin, Roxy, Poppy and Fizz
xxxxxx
Heartbroken for you May. I have followed Darcy’s adventures with you from the very start, you were our inspiration to get our own cockapoo, you showed us getting a dog was the start of the adventure and the not the end. My heart goes out to you.
Run free little girl. You gave Miss Darcy an amazing life with so many great adventures. Big hugs to both you and George.. our hearts go out to you.
Absolutely heartbroken for you May and George.
Darcy was such a gorgeous poo bear and only a year older than my little furbaby.
The adventures you went on with Darcy enabled me to see that having a dog can really integrate with you. I was so grateful for all your tips on travelling by train for when I took Pippa to aberdeen.
I will look up into the stars and think of you Darcy and my love & thoughts are with you May xx
May, I’m so sorry to you and George for your loss of Darcy. We’re grateful for all the smiles that you bring to us. Although I live in Canada, I had the very unexpected pleasure of meeting Darcy and George at their spa one day! Our beloved Hazel looks like she could be Darcy’s sister. One of my favourite photos of me with Hazel is us reading the magazine with Darcy on the cover. Thanks for all the joy. Our thoughts are very much with you.
Oh May, so very sorry for your loss and for George who’s lost his sister. We always hoped to get to a doodle meet with you, bringing our mini labradoodle Bramble and meet Miss D. We will wave to her in the stars tonight – sending big hugs and much love xxx
Heartbreaking news. There are no words to truly express how we feel at the passing of Darcy, she was a dog in a million that gave so many people pleasure in reading about her adventures. Thank you Darcy. Special hugs to you May and George, you are very much in my thoughts, take care of each other.
I am so, so sorry for your loss May. And George too. I have followed your adventures since I got my own cockapoo, Poppy, six years ago, when I moved from London to Washington DC. I was so envious of your ability to travel with Miss Darcy and see all those wonderful places in London that allow dogs. The US is not as dog friendly. I hoped one day to get back at the same time as one of your Kensington Garden meet ups. She had the best possible life with you. You both touched so many peoples lives, I have tears in my eyes as I write this. Thank you for all the joy and humour you gave us.
Hi May I’m heartbroken you didn’t get longer with Darcy at the end. I still remember the passing of my previous dogs with such clarity this brought it all back. I’m so grateful Darcy inspired this blog & brought Winston into our lives – he’s blossomed into a pampered pooch and all because Darcy brought us together. Rest in peace Miss Darcy & when you’re up there look out for Tessa, Lucky & Hollie… they’d love to meet you and be your new gang to adventure with ❤️
So very sorry to read this sad news, what a wonderful life Miss Darcy has had with you, all those lovely memories you made together will remain in your heart and gradually help to ease the intence pain of your loss, thinking of you and sending much love
So sorry to hear this may , I have followed your blog for several years since I got my own cockapoo. I’ve really enjoyed reading what you three have been up to . The hardest part of owning a dog is saying goodbye. Hugs to you and George at this very sad time. Xx
So sorry to hear this. I’ve been there twice before in 2019 and 2020. My first ever dog reached the age of 18 and then joined his sister over the rainbow bridge 18 months ago. It felt like he waited until our new pup was born and named (though not yet home) to pass on the baton.
I sincerely think they are angels in disguise. Each one of my dogs has taught me so much and enriched the lives of everyone around them.
Run free, Miss Darcy. We’ll all meet again at rainbow’s end.
Oh May, I can’t believe this, I am so sorry, I’m absolutely heartbroken for you. I’ve followed your wonderful adventures from nearly the beginning and I felt a real connection because she seemed like Rumer is to me, the little girl I never had, a little human in a furry body 🥰. Darcy, such a beautiful soul, you are cherished and loved so very much, we will look up to the stars and blow you a kiss. Sending so much love and hugs to you May, I hope the days eventually become easier, George must be a huge comfort. Take care May xxx
So sorry to hear about Miss D’Arcy. I so loved reading about your adventures together. Rest in peace little one xx
I’m so very sorry for your loss. It’s so hard to continue on without them, but you did the kindest thing for Miss Darcy. You gave her such an amazing and happy life and you will always have those lovely memories. X
My heart aches for you. Miss Darcy lives on in our hearts. x
Oh this is so sad but what a wonderful life she had and what amazing memories you made. Big hugs and kisses to you and George, may the star shine brighter every day xx
Run free Darcy, thank you for all the joy you have brought to us and for sharing all your adventures. We will miss you a lot. Hope you are surrounded by many furry friends and most importantly yummy treats in heaven.
Lots and lots of hugs May, we are all thinking of you…
May light and love always be with Darcy and you xx
I’m so very sorry May and George. Darcy was such a special girl who has certainly left her legacy. The hardest part of loving our fur babies is knowing when we have to say goodbye.
RIP little one and God speed to rainbow bridge and you friends waiting for you there. 💔🐾🌈 x
So sorry May and George that you had to say goodbye to the gentle and special Miss Darcy! I cried so hard when I read the news so I know you must be hurting at her departure. Thank you for sharing with all of us the adventures you spent all around the world 🌎 and especially in London! I really loved watching you teach Darcy obedience training and seeing the awards she earned! She was and is such a brilliant and beautiful dog. Like you and George, and many others, I will be looking up to her 🌟 star at night and remembering what a difference she made in my life as I happily read (and will continue to read) her blog!
Dearest May and George, have only just found out that the Star Miss Darcy has passed away. I write with tears clouding my vision of the sad news. Such adventures she shared with us all, a beautiful companion and loved by all.
Really heartbroken. Sending all my love. 💜
