Mummy got a Kong dummy and a scent to teach me mind games. As the weather gets worse and worse we will probably be doing more of these activities.
I’m still trying to figure out what she wants me to do … first she tells me to sit and stay. She goes to hide the dummy and comes back and says “Where is it?” So we’re playing Hide-n-Seek and I seek fine. I thought that’s what I am supposed to do.
Then tonight she throws the dummy within a few feet away from us and she tells me to “find it” but I am more interested in the treat she has in her hands! So I say “please” or even better I climb up on the dummy to get to the treat! Sausages – yummy!
All that – and I am still a little confused as to what I am supposed to do! Please clarify.
May’s comment: I seem to have done all this backwards. I have done the hard part of teaching her to sniff her target … but she stops short of bringing it to me so I can reward her. So now I am going backwards to teach her to go “find it” by throwing the dummy in the room – so when she goes to get it, I reward her. Finding it difficult to get her to fetch – basically. She’s never been a good “fetcher” – we throw balls in the park and then she comes running back to me – runs right past me and sits with the ball!
