When we were out walking last night, there was a brightly lit moon in the sky. Er, was I suppose to howl?
My ancestors supposedly did. The difference is that they were nocturnal animals but me – I like a good sleep at night. Oh yes, I keep guard but I like to snuggle on the bed and sometimes right next to Mummy.
Besides it’s been realised that wolves howl not at the moon but simply because they are out and about at night – and it’s a means of communication like our barking, whimpering and growling. And they point their muzzles at the moon and stars only for acoustic projection of the messages they want to deliver. Apparently the males also use it as a “calling card” for the females.
Have I howled? No, I don’t remember doing so.
