Moments that Mattered

As the year draws to a close, there’s a natural pause that settles in — a moment to look back before stepping forward. Everywhere you turn, people are sharing reflection reels: highlights stitched together, memories set to music, a year distilled into seconds.

I wasn’t sure I’d join in at first. But curiosity — and maybe a quiet need to reflect — got the better of me. And when I did, I realised something unexpected: the process itself became a reminder of how fully this year was lived.

Looking back, this year was rich with adventure. We truly travelled miles — across places familiar and brand new — exploring new corners, discovering fresh favourites, and letting curiosity lead the way. Each journey, big or small, left its own mark.

We stayed involved with dog events that mattered to us — the ones that feel less like dates in a diary and more like part of who we are—those moments, shared with George and Lulu grounded the year in joy and purpose.

There was time spent with friends — including some we hadn’t seen in far too long — reminding us how easy it is to pick up where you left off, and how meaningful it feels to simply be together again. Laughter, conversation, shared memories, both old and new.

As we look ahead, George, Lulu and I move forward as a unit, carrying Darcy’s memory with us — always part of our story, quietly present in the way we love, travel, and show up. There’s gratitude too for health, especially after a year that brought a few small worries — moments that quietly reinforced the importance of living fully, not cautiously.

And now, as the new year approaches, there’s that familiar mix of hope and uncertainty. A quiet wondering about what lies ahead. No clear answers yet — just possibilities.

If this year taught me anything, it’s that a life well lived isn’t about perfection or constant momentum. It’s about presence. About adventures big and small. About connection, resilience, and gratitude — and carrying what matters most with us into whatever the next chapter holds.
