Heads up to for International Dog Day – this Saturday, 26th August.
There’s quite a bit going on in London to celebrate us. Here are just a few events to keep you busy.
If you are in London, head over to King’s Cross for The Big Woof – a Bank Holiday weekend extravaganza from 26 – 27 August dedicated to our favourite furry friends and their humans.

Dogs can be treated to a completely new wardrobe, get decked out in the latest canine accessories and taste test the latest dog treats. All events are free, just make sure you sign up and book your spot ahead of the day. More information follow the links here.
And for this whole week from the 21st – 27th August, The Lighterman Restaurant at King’s Cross and Caboodle are partnering to bring you a special Doggy Menu.

One of our favourite restaurants Los Mochis is also serving a Dog’s Menu. We had a taste of it! The liver taco and pup cake – simply delish!

And it wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Love My Human Townhouse and have their free puppuccinos with their humans who will be there for breakfast, brunch and lunch!
And that’s not all.
Badiani 1932’s Gelato will be launching their new dog gelato crafted with love and made specially for dogs. Badiani is one of our local haunts for Mum so now we can join in the licking!

We are man’s best friend and this Saturday they will make a fuss, celebrate us and also to remember all the dogs out there. They too deserve a home that is safe from danger and a life that we can share the love with humans.
May’s comment: National Dog Day, 26th August, was established in 2004 by animal advocate & pet and family lifestyle expert Coleen Paige. The aim of the awareness day is to raise awareness about the number of dogs that are currently in rescue centres and encourage the adoption of these animals.
August 26 wasn’t chosen at random by Paige. It’s the day that Paige’s family adopted Sheltie, their first dog, from a local animal shelter. Paige was 10 years old at the time.
This day also acknowledges dogs that work every day to bring us comfort and save lives. Working dogs put themselves in harm’s way every day – when they are used in law enforcement, sniffing out drugs and bombs. While medical dogs can sniff out seizures and cancer.
Dogs can recognise and do tasks that humans are unable to do.
