Woof! Mummy, can you hear me? I am sitting on the ledge of the bathtub because I had poo’d in there and I’ve also thrown up on the bathroom floor.
But I still wasn’t liking how I felt so after Mummy had cleaned the bathtub, I jumped back in and Mummy knew I needed desperately to go outside.
By the afternoon, my diarrhoea did not stop and it had become quite bad. She knew it was time to go to the vet.
The minute I was called into the surgery, I went and stood on the scale – waiting for my treats. No treats today?
Dr. Luke checked my eyes and he listened to my heart, took my temperature which was normal
He felt my tummy –
And reported there’s absolutely nothing solid in there so to expect a few more not so nice poos. Sorry!
He gave me a jab and we took home some antibiotics.
And after all that, I did not get any treats. 🙁
May’s comment: I was desensitised to Darcy’s needs early this morning. I am usually very alert to both their movements during the night but I couldn’t get to sleep till early morning. So when Darcy jumped off the bed and headed for the bathroom I didn’t hear her getting sick.
In normal circumstances, I would have jumped out of bed and followed her to the bathroom. Since I didn’t this time, she barked once to let me know she’s not well. I was just rousing – it was about 6.30 am when I heard that bark. I thought – what a brat – she wants breakfast but she will have to wait. I called her to come back to bed – the alarm had not even gone off, but she didn’t come. That wasn’t like her.
I went to find her in the kitchen and when she wasn’t there, my eyes caught sight of the first pool of bile by the bathroom door, and a second followed closely inside the bathroom.
As I walked into the bathroom, couldn’t believe my eyes as I saw her sitting on the ledge of the bathtub. That’s because she had left a large deposit in there and the floor had bile – and that was the only clean place.
Ever since she was about a year old, she knew to use the bathroom if she had an upset tummy in the night, but this is the first time where she knew to make it to the bathroom as she retched up bile – not once but twice.
She didn’t want to come back to the bedroom because she was obviously did not trust herself to do so.
As the day wore on, it got worse. I managed to get an appointment at the vet. It turned out she had a gastrointestinal bacteria probably compliments of food thrown in the parks from Guy Fawkes night. She is well in herself though and still scavenging for food. The vet said to keep an eye on her the next 24 hours but the antibiotics should kick in and a bland menu for the next two days.

Healing hugs Miss Darcy, hope you feel so much better soon.
Get well soon Darcy. Xx
Get well soon Darcy! The picture on the bathtub made me laugh 🙂
You just can’t monitor them all the time. We all try to feed our dogs the good stuff but, if they’re running free (which is so good for them) they pick up rubbish. Tilly is a scavenger and sometimes gets the runs. You do what is best, like children, simple thing is? No one can get it right all the time. Hope D’Arcy is ok now ?x
Get well soon Darcy, your such a clever girl. My Ruby poo was scavenging food today in the park whilst I was training ?? xx
Poor Darcy, get well soon sweetheartXXX
Poor, poor Darcy. Hope she is better soon. And what a smart girl to have headed to the bathroom to do her business. Such a good girl.
Oh no, poor Darcy, hope you’ll get well soon!
