My Godparents

My name is Darcy Lucinda Lena Isabella Fuzzy Ruby Asta Juno Saskia May-Lee.

I was christened by my Godparents.

I was first called Lulu when I was born, but Mummy preferred Darcy.  But she also likes Lucy so my first godmother, Freya Moore gave me the name Lucinda which is sort of hybrid of Lulu and Lucy.  Freya has her own dog, Bella who is a chocolate Labradoodle and they live in Washington D.C.  Bella and I have never met but maybe we will one day. Oh, and Mummy is Freya’s godmother.

My German godmother, Beate named me Lena, sort for Helena meaning “sunshine”. 🙂  Beate is from Frankfurt and has two cats. I’ve met her twice.  Once in Dusseldorf and last year she spent Christmas with us.  She spoils me with all sorts of presses – like that Magi puppy chair!

My American/English godmother, Jane gave me two names – Isabella Fuzzy because she has Italian roots and the Fuzzy part is obvious. She calls me fuzzball sometimes!  She visits often and we have our love-up sessions. And sometimes I stay with her and go for walks.

Mairi, my Scottish godmother named me Ruby.  Sometimes I am Rubykins.  She stays over sometimes to look after me when Mummy’s away. Whenever she’s in London we meet up for lunch and she always tells me I am special. 🙂  I haven’t seen her in awhile – we keep meaning to go for walks in the country where she lives.

Our neighbour and English godmother, Sarah named me Asta.  Sarah takes me out for walks, we have coffee at Gail’s and we go out for meals together.  Sometimes I stay over at hers which means I keep going up the stairs till I get to the very top.  She even takes me to visit with her parents sometimes.

Bemi from San Francisco named me Juno – “protector of women.”  She came to visit early last year and brought me Lammykins which is now all torn and tattered. For Valentine’s she sent me wonderful “chocolate” biscuits made in San Francisco.  Looking forward to her return.

Bemi

My only godfather, Sammy named me Saskia which sounds a bit like Sasha, his son and Mummy’s godson.  They live in Thailand most of the time so I don’t see them much.  But when  they’re in London, sometimes he takes me out for walks and he likes to make me run – for exercise.  In fact Sasha has a toy dog that looks just like me.

And finally my Aunty May-Mei gave me a name in keeping with the girls in the family – May Lee.  And she has cousin Molly, a Cavalier King Charles.  They live in New Jersey – so we’ve only met once when we were in New York last year. She supplies my “poo-bags”!

Mummy’s comment: It was tough selecting Darcy’s godmothers – she could have ended up with every letter of the alphabet in her name.  She still might. The main criteria was – must love dogs, must be in a different continent/country and preferably not have their own dogs so they can love Darcy like their own. The exception was Freya, my goddaughter  and May-Mei, my sister.  We’re still considering having a French, Italian and Malaysian godparents.
