When we were taking our morning walk on Boxing Day morning, we came across a tree lying on its side – on a pavement that we often walk past.
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Thy leaves are so unchanging …
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Such pleasure do you bring me!
For every year this Christmas tree,
Brings to us such joy and glee.
Goodbye Christmas trees – thank you for giving us so much pleasure in the days leading up to Christmas Day. You were the focal point of every room you were in and you lit up the place. You put smiles on people’s faces and light up children’s eyes. And we doggies like sitting underneath your spreading branches.
May’s comment: We saw our first Christmas tree casualty on the morning of Boxing Day. Only the day before it was the pride of the room where it stood. Today, it is to be recycled. At least it’s that.
