Rain clouds gathered as we arrived at Dogs Fest 2016 in Windsor …Regardless, the dogs came
Lots of them
Walking through muddy fields
Mummy was prepared with her wellies
Finally after walking through great lengths of fields – we’re at Dog Fest 2016!
On the other side were – LOTS of dogs – especially the ones I don’t like very much
And there were bears there too!
They’re not bears?
Oh, and a little goblin with big ears?
Other types of big dogs
And little ones who needed a little help
There were lots of retail therapy
And swimming/diving pools –
We watched what the dogs were doing. Can you imagine if we did that? “Never!” shouted Mummy.
There was food for humans which I rather like
And plenty of dog food for us – we stopped at Natural Instinct to try out their treats
Nothing like getting on the table and getting them myself.
We went to try Agility. I know what this meant – there’s a treat at the end of it except this time I got so excited I was running all over the place instead of approaching the apparatus. I was focused on the lady with the treats.
Mummy was appalled!
The weather was also playing games with us. It rained, it poured, the sun came out, it was too hot and then it hid behind the clouds.
And just like Camilla who wore different outfits throughout the day, we did too.
There were duties we were scheduled to fulfil
Mummy was asked to judge “The Most Regal Dog”
And she found the winner!
First prize went to the doggy owner who made the most effort!
And then it was our turn at the stage for our “Heroes of Dogfest Award.”
Beverley from Dogs Today magazine asked Mummy which was the most dog-friendly country we’ve visited. “Germany,” she answered and then said – “And now we’ve left them!” She made the audience laugh. 🙂
While we were on stage, Camilla and Charlie sat and watched us – both muddied and wet.
Having fulfilled our commitments, it was time to meet up with Lily and Ness – four very muddied poos for our journey back to the city of paved roads and raised sidewalks, where rain water drains off sloped surfaces and no muddy paths. Where wellies are only required when there’s a torrential downpour.
Thank you Lily and Ness – if not for you, we would never have made it to Dogfest!
Oh, and we saw Super Vet, Noel Fitzpatrick behind the stage. He was too busy filming so we didn’t ask to do a selfie.
May’s comment: Have been to several dog shows but this was by far the most fun. So many activities – not just shopping, though there were lots of that. Think next year we will plan it better – including the weather!
Judging the “Most Regal Looking Dog” was an experience. I’ve entered such competitions before and even though it was for fun, I took the decision quite personally. I could so relate to the owners. They entered their pooches because they really believed in them. They saw whatever characteristics they were competing for in their pooches and really believed in them. And I had to choose the “best” one. I felt terrible not giving them all 1st prizes just for loving their dogs and believing in them.
I did the best I could – I gave the third prize to a proud little dachshund, second prize to a truly beautiful setter. The first prize went to the most effort …
It was a little high to have made three people so happy – just to have won a prize.
And then I wanted to apologise to all who entered but did not win.
We were all tired when we took the train home …
Where’s Georgie? He eloped with Maddie. LOL!
