Pillow Talk

IMG_1561

Mummy, I’m glad you let us share your bed.  This way we can have conversations at eye-level.

There are so many things I still do not really understand about this world that I now live in.

For example, I don’t get balls.  Other dogs go crazy about them but I don’t get it. First, this thing that you throw might hit me. And my mouth isn’t big enough to get a hold of it. And if it’s too small, it gets lost in the park. IMG_9341So I don’t get them – and I get really annoyed when other dogs, like Jaffa, goes berserk over them.

IMG_3429And you know what else, Mummy?  I maybe small in size compared to other dogs
IMG_9344But I have no fear.  You really have no need to worry so much about me barking at them.
IMG_9215You think I’m appetiser size? Really Mummy, dogs don’t eat dogs – at least not these. I just want them to know I am a force to be reckoned with.IMG_9196And why do hoomans make such a fuss that I wear pink?  Why do they think pink or fuchsia is not for boys?  I think I carry it quite well, if I may say so myself.IMG_1702Do you wonder why, whenever you give me a treat, that I take it and run away to hide to eat it? It’s a habit that stems from my days on the street. I had to run to a safe place to hide from others who might fight me for my food.  IMG_5788 IMG_5789But I think I am adapting well. It was a bit confusing at first, you know. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t just pee whenever and wherever I wanted to. IMG_9880I had to wait till you took me out.  One of the many things you had to teach me to stop doing. Other things I figured out myself – like me playing with handbags.IMG_9185You didn’t like me playing with it, so now I have chosen my “favourite” toy – DoggyIMG_0227 Which I know you approve of – a lot more.IMG_0170You buy me cute toys that you like. 🙂 IMG_9831And I like playing with them too.IMG_9837Especially if you chase after me.
IMG_1369So this world that I now live in, it is full of surprises and sometimes they scare me.IMG_8398Like strange surfaces to walk on. But now I know that I am safe and even though I am afraid, I must trust you to try things and overcome my fear of things that are unfamiliar.

But sometimes even you can’t protect me from unpleasant surprises!IMG_9701But I guess that’s life.  But at least I know I have Darcy and you.  IMG_9700She maybe a little unhappy that I’ve entered her world but I think by now, even though she doesn’t like to show it, she’s taken to me.IMG_9301 So many questions, so many things to talk about.  Have we been talking all night?IMG_3439 The sun has risen! It’s a new day!IMG_3442

Another meal, another walk around the block, another playdate with Jaffa, another run in the park, another meal before bedtime. Maybe you will play chase with me tonight?

May’s comment: I wonder what goes on in his little head.  For a dinky thing, he has big personality.  No dog, no matter how big does not scare him.  The only dog he submits to is Darcy. She can put him in his place. He would try to take her position sometimes but she doesn’t care. She lets him. He is also engaging and loves to play. If he’s a person, I think he would have a Napoleon complex.

  1. May — I think you’ve analyzed George very well. You could be a professional dog psychiatrist. You are so caring of your and all animals.

  2. I especially love the last photo. If only they could talk what wonderful chats we would have!
