We have a special announcement … Darcy Dog joins GoPLAAY Luxury Toys collection.

Darcy Dog has been a labour of love. And we hope she will become a favourite and comforting toy for a child (big or small). Whether nestled in small hands or a warm pocket, this way Darcy continues her life adventures. 

We are in love with Darcy Dog.

May’s comment: This story began in Summer 2021 when Plaay?, a luxury toy company asked if we would like to create a Darcy/cockapoo version for their core collection. Of all the many collaboration requests that we get asked, this stood out and felt right.

At the time I thought, what a fabulous way to keep Darcy’s legacy alive when she is long gone. When we began this project, Darcy was still very much alive and well. Sadly, we unexpectedly lost Darcy halfway through the process. Naturally, the project took on a much deeper significance. For me, it has become a way to ensure Darcy’s love of adventures to continue. 

When the prototype finally arrived in early October, I tore open the box with trepidation. It was small. I held it in my hands and studied her face. I could see that Plaay? had managed to capture Darcy’s somewhat aloof and regal expression. That’s my Darcy.

I hope Darcy Dog will be a sweet keepsake for nurseries, a pocket friend or mantelpiece ornament. A perfect way for Miss Darcy’s adventures to continue.

About Go PLAAY

The idea began following the birth of our third child Parker, after realizing a gap in the market for high-end luxury wooden toys for consumers looking for alternative gifting specifically targeted for special occasional gifting which is currently dominated by pottery and silverware, this determined us to create a line of heirloom luxury wooded toys that are elegant, simple and ooze quality.

As designers, artists and parents of three children we have many influences. It all started with our family at home brainstorming designs and ideas for the range which included inspiration from the children, favourite toys and films, shop walks, internet research and countless prototypes and testing across a wide range of materials and application methods.

Three years of development, testing and encouragement from friends and family, resulted in a range of designs being brought to life which we are really passionate about. We do feel the in plaay, shows the diversity of the toys, they can either be played with or used as an ornamental piece in a child’s bedroom or office for those playful adults in us.

Here are some of the collection …

All of our products are handmade from solid FSC Oak, all have their own unique design aspects and bespoke features such as soft-touch fabrics, leather materials, calming and realistic colour tones with the iconic plaay logo engraving. The solid Oak provides fantastic wood grain definition and product durability, with no loose parts to worry about.  Luxury packaging Bespoke hand finished box with swing ticket card insert and acid free tissue paper.
