“Darcy, ” says George, “there are strange sounds in the sky above which we’ve never heard before …”
“Let’s check it out.”
“Yeah, the sound is coming from above.”
“What is it, D? What do you think is making all that noise?”
“Look, it’s a winged creature.”
“Very strange looking bird indeed.”
“Here comes another!”
“And another! My goodness – there are so many of them! And they sure make a lot of noise.”
“Do you think they’ll come down and land in the garden?” asked George.
“Then we can chase them like those pigeons!”
“I don’t think so, Georgie. When they make so much noise flying overhead must mean they are very, very big!”
Let’s forget about them. They seem to be flying over us. Let’s just continue playing in the garden!
May’s comment: We live in the flight path to Heathrow but when indoors, it is less obvious. But sitting in the garden, the sound seems so much more present. The doggies playing in the garden took note of it for the first time. They both stopped their playing and looked up at the skies wondering what the noise was. But before long, they got used to it and continued playing.
