Remembering Ella

IMG_2413

When we got our latest monthly subscription box of freeze dried raw food from Ella & Co but something had changed.

On the box it now says James & Ella. Awww. I think we know why. This is so James can keep the legacy of his and Ella’s symbiotic relationship.

Everything else remains the same – as yummy as ever! And for Mum – all my poos are very much in tact! LOL!

May’s comment: We have been raw feeders for over a decade but many a time when we travelled, we needed to resort to another option. We had tried so many alternatives to our raw feeding, especially for when we travelled abroad and for longer periods – and one have worked for us. Both Darcy and George have never been picky eaters but what comes out at the other end is my concern especially important when we were on the road.

It was when James Middleton’s company, Ella & Co. introduced their freeze dried raw that I hesitatingly tried them, expecting the usual outcomes as before – good for the first couple of feeds and then it all goes wrong. But it worked! All poos after a week-long trial were “in tact”. And what is even more amazing is how easy they were to travel with! We have never looked back.

So what is freeze-dried raw? It is a carefully blended, nutritious mix of human-grade meat, fruit, vegetables and superfoods. James & Ella’s freeze-dried raw food provides all the benefits of raw, in a convenient bite-sized nugget.

On a daily basis, I used freeze dried raw in the mornings for Darcy and George and continued with the frozen raw feeding plus a dollop of mashed pumpkin for supper. That way their digestive systems were accustomed to both and we never needed to change feeding habits before we travelled.

What are the benefits of feeding raw? Feeding a raw diet offers countless benefits to your dog. Not only will they absolutely love it, but they’ll also have smaller, firmer poos, healthier skin, a glossier coat, and improved digestion and energy levels!

After years of on-and-off communication, we finally met James Middleton and all his pooches at Goodwood 2023 – sadly for us, sans Darcy (in Jan ’22) and Ella (in Jan ’23).

It was then that we heard about the rebranding of Ella & Co. to James & Ella. This is the reason why –

Following the recent passing of my therapy dog, Ella, I decided to change our brand name to represent the symbiotic relationship between she and I (pet and pet parent). I think any dog owner would argue that their dog is the best, and everyone is right in that sense. Ella carried me through my darkest times, and the bond we shared is something I will never forget, and always be grateful for. I’m so proud to carry on Ella’s legacy and spirit, and excited to have you with me on this journey.

If you want to give it a trial run, you can do so on their website James & Ella.

They also offer cold-pressed food and freeze dried treats.

BON APPETIT!

  1. I really enjoyed reading about how you feed George (and Darcy) the freeze-dried raw dog food and was so glad you have us the website for James & Ella’s dog food company. It was so interesting to read about how the food is prepared, but it was very touching to read his heartfelt memories of having to deal with Ella’s death.

    1. For those of use who have lost someone special, we try to find ways to keep their legacy going. And this was such a good idea.
