Saving Holly

My beautiful dog walker Agnes found a staffie-cross at Morden Hall Park on Monday, 7th July.

She is about a year and a half. She was dirty, smelly and very much alone.  Agnes couldn’t leave her in the park so she took her home and fed her. photo 2-45Then she called Blue Cross and took her along to see if she was chipped.  She wasn’t. There was no tag on her. So it was quite obvious that someone had left her in the park on purpose.

Agnes then had to take her to the Dog Warden for them to find the owner but if she is unclaimed within 7 days and then unadopted, because she is a staffie cross, she faces the death sentence.

By then Agnes has already fallen in love with this lively happy girl who also played so well with her dog. That’s when Agnes says – I will adopt her if she remains unclaimed within seven days.  She cannot bear the thought of letting this lovely, innocent girl be put down.  As she already have a dog, she will foster and seek to find her a happy forever home that she deserves.

Agnes calls her Holly. We hope they never find the person who abandoned Holly because she will only go back to a home that does not want her.

We await to hear next week Monday on Holly’s fate.

May’s comment: It is sad that so many dogs are abandoned and neglected in a world such as ours where we have enough to go around and enough resources to find shelters and homes for unwanted animals. I cannot imagine just saying to Darcy – ok, you go your way and fend for yourself now. We domesticated them and then we abandon them.  And let’s not even get to the issue of cross staffies. It’s a world we do not understand.

If anyone is interested in rehoming her, get in touch with Agnes at Agnes and Pavel
