Didier has arrived in London! We went to meet him at Heathrow … Mummy didn’t want to believe it was going to happen till they came through the arrivals exit!
Didier wasn’t so sure about me
We drove from the airport to Great Ormond Street Hospital where Didier was very brave.
I had to sit in the car with Joaquim to wait while they got on with what they had to do.
May’s comment: They have arrived!!!! Didier and his mother, Luz arrived in London this afternoon. It finally happened!
We went straight from the airport to Great Ormond Street Hospital so he can meet with Dr. Kinsler – the leading researcher for Congenital Melanocytic Nevus. They took some blood and some of his nevus so he can be a part of the research. This way when a cure has been found for CMN, Didier will benefit from the research.
Tonight they are staying with a wonderful family – Simone, Joachim and Mateus who are hosting them this week while they are in London.
Their flight has been sponsored by Avianca Airlines, made possible with William Garcia Olano’s help. William is with Infantis Sanum Foundation, a local NGO. They helped Didier and his mother Luz to get their passports and visas – took a long while!
Didier and Luz will also meet members of Caring Matters Now, the support group for CMN sufferers. Besides being a part of the crucial CMN research, they will also meet many other families with the same condition – that friendships may form and though far away, they will receive support. Caring Matters Now are partially sponsoring his medical costs at GOSH and have also set up a Just Giving page for Didier for anyone who wants to help with his ongoing need for medical care – Just Giving for Didier
