Rescue Dogs of London

Rescue Dogs of London Logo High-res

There is a new community in town called Rescue Dogs of London, a community of humans with rescue dogs.

As long as George had been with me, he was always an honorary doodle at our Hyde Park Cockapoo/Doodle meets. He’s a terrier cross – Maltese, Shih Tzu, and Yorkshire Terrier (that’s what Wisdom Panel told us) with no poodle in him. Lulu, a toy poodle and a bit of Bichon Frise, entered our world after Darcy passed away, and she would have fit right in with the group.

We know quite a few rescues and have heard many owners comment that there are never any events for non-breed-specific dogs. So, we thought it was about time for this to change! It was time to form a community to bring together rescue dogs living in London to socialise and have fun.

And collectively, we want to help dispel common misconceptions surrounding rescue dogs. We aim to demystify the experience of adopting rescues and to celebrate the joy and fulfilment they bring to our lives by giving these dogs a second chance.

So along with Teresa of The Dog Vine and her current rescue, Piccolina (from @Zem.Rescue in Greece), George (from Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue) and Lulu (from Harbin Slaughterhouse Survivors in China) have come together to launch the first Rescue Dogs of London & Friends Meet-up!

Join us on Sunday, 12 May, for a heartwarming gathering as we celebrate the love, resilience, and wagging tails of Rescue Dogs, the first event of the new Rescue Dogs of London community, which is set to become a social hub in the heart of the capital!

What can you expect at the Meetup?

  • Community Connection: Whether you’re a proud rescue dog owner or simply a friend of rescues, this event is for you! Join us to socialise, share stories, and make new two & four-legged friends.
  • Capture the Moment: Make lasting memories of the day with a candid photo by renowned London Dog Photographer Andrew Richardson of Raven Imagery. Photos will be emailed to you as digital images after the event.
  • Fundraising: Your participation and generosity will support two deserving dog rescues: ZEM Rescue Megara in Greece and Harbin Slaughterhouse Survivors in China.
  • Dispelling Rescue Dog Myths: Let’s debunk the stereotypes about rescue dogs by showing how wonderful all the rescue dogs in London are, encouraging others to adopt rescue dogs!

This is a ticketed event and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to two amazing charities: ZEM Rescue Megara & Harbin Slaughterhouse Survivors in China. The tickets are just £20 (plus Eventbrite fee) and here’s what’s included:

Plus, there’s an option to treat your pup to some delicious special edition Rescue Dog Cookies from Darcy’s Bakery.

You’ll be giving back by attending. Click HERE to book your tickets for the inaugural Rescue Dogs of London! We hope to see you there!
