So which one should I have?

Whenever we go to Old Spitalfields Market, we must drop in to say hello to our favourite stallEdwyn UKI was checking out their “doodle” bandanas and other doodle accessories.

We were at the market to check out Taberna do Mercado – a Portuguese restaurant that serves tapas, from cheese and charcuterie to more inventive fare.  Mummy had dishes that she had never had before … Cod soup and Polvo A Langareiro – which is grilled octopus with coiled potatoes with a variation of pesto sauceAnd a dessert that looked like the usual egg custard tarts but not the same. Pastel De Nada – served with cinnamon and sugar!Well, that’s all new for Mummy! Well done!

But alas, when she was hunting down Lola’s Cupcakes to take home for tea and didn’t find it, she spotted Tea Spitalfields on Brushfield Road. This place used to be a green grocer but times have changed. And lo and behold there was the ubiquitous red velvet cake!Mummy never strays very far from what she loves … well, that’s a good thing.

May’s comment: There are lots of places where you can eat with your pooches at Old Spitalfields Market – lots of food stalls. But we wanted to try Taberna do Mercado – our first Portuguese restaurant in London. We can’t sit in the restaurant but there’s a well-covered and heated seating area where dogs are allowed. It’s been added to our Wine & Dine page – under its own category!

And we’ve added Tea Spitalfields (for well behaved dogs!) to our list as well!
