It turned out to be a beautiful spring day yesterday when we went to The River Cafe for a late lunch. That way we could watch the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race as it went past on the River Thames.
We were only allowed to dine there if the weather was good enough for us to sit outside.
And the weather cooperated.
I wandered around – checking out the other tables.
Hmm, I spotted someone “famous” …
Georgie wanted to try some Prosecco from Arsh
When we got bored with not getting any food, there’s a green pit where we could play in.

Mummy told us that The River Cafe is right next to the offices of a famous architect – Richard Rogers (Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners)
And took Georgie over to look at some of the architectural models in their windows.
Then it was time to watch the boat race –
Georgie and I were a bit oblivious to what was going on – and decided we would have a little play – and got told off by Mummy!
There were quite a few other doggies who were also there for the occasion. They too were a bit oblivious to all that was going on.
Ah, but we loved the sun! Needed some shades. Thanks Praewa.

May’s comment: I knew that dogs are not allowed inside The River Cafe, but have never asked if we could sit outside. But when I realised The River Cafe was listed on the route of the Boat Race, I called to ask if dogs were permitted. And was told that if the weather allowed for outdoor seating, dogs are allowed! YES!!!
And there’s a small green pit where the dogs can run freely. Hooray!
Used to be known as the canteen of Richard Rogers’ architectural firm, it is one of my favourite restaurants and so we’ll make sure we go there when the sun’s out!
