Darcy was 5, Sasha was 6. And George had been with us just the September before.
As for me … like … who is she?
Trying to summarise a whole year packed with memories into less than 30 seconds was no small task. So we did a 58 seconds one! LOL!
And a blog that let’s us recall the many memories from ten years ago.
January 2016: As we do every year, we began the year with our annual tradition of being by the beach. That year we were at West Beach, Bridport.
We remembered David Bowie, met Joe Wicks and visited Danesfield House …
And I was quoted in The Times about what I thought were the most dog-friendly countries we have visited.
February: Valentine’s Day and Darcy turned five years.
At our monthly Hyde Park Cockapoo Meets, we honoured one of ours who passed – Tiger, with rose petals.
And we received a special gift from one of our blog readers:
March: Darcy was Harry Potter for World Book Day, and I had a big trip to Ko Samui so Darcy went off to her favourite holiday place and she is always excited to see Sarah from the House of Mutt.
April: Birthday celebration month so a lot of feasting. The Tykes came to London and we spent a lot of time together.
May: As the weather got warmer, we spent a lot more time in the parks. And hard to believe we have been going to the Chelsea Flower Show for over ten years!
And we met Sally Muir who drew Darcy and George’s portraits.
June: Dogs Today magazine gave us a “Heroes of Dogfest 2016 Award” at Dogfest for making the world more dog friendly!
Summer: of course it was the usual posing with tennis balls for Wimbledon, and the summer was spent with Sasha and family. We went back to West Bay, Bridport. And Sasha celebrated his sixth birthday. And a photo with Rocko, Darcy’s first and her only big love.
September: took us to Manchester to visit with some friends and found another David Bowie mural. And a trip to Mallorca because Darcy was too big to fly in-cabin.
October: Darcy and I travelled by rail to Sylvia and Marcus’ wedding in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria. And I wore a dirndl! We stopped over in Vienna, Austria for some Wiener Schnitzel and Sacher Torte!
We made the most of our journey. On our way home, we stopped at Villa d’Este in Como, Italy.
Met up with an old colleague, Yoon-Shin in Luxembourg.
And then stayed at The Dog House in Bruges, Belgium for the first time. Exactly 8 years later, I was there and took the same photo with Lulu.
November: quieter days of reading, reflecting on those who sacrificed their lives for our peace at the Animals in War Memorial, time with friends, Halloween and supporting Children in Need
December: Our annual Christmas shopping at Mungo & Maud
and meeting Rockster
Christmas at Lygon Arms
and New Year’s Eve at The Scarlet in Newquay, Cornwall.

Looking back, you realise how grateful you are for the memories, even when they’re bittersweet, because some of the souls who made them so special aren’t with us anymore.
Still, I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.
It was also a gentle reminder to keep making memories today, with love and joy, so that when I look back ten years from now, I’ll feel the same gratitude for what we’re living right now.
