The Survivors

IMG_9712

Many a creature lives in this basket, i.e. my basket of toys. They’ve come from Mummy’s friends through the years. If all my toys had survived, the basket will be overflowing – and we would have needed a bigger basket. Alas, these are the survivors of my canine teeth.

This is a Kong bear and came from my Aunty May-Mei. He is one of my first teddies and he’s a tough old one. Can’t seem to do him any harm.IMG_9693This was once a singing reindeer for my first Christmas.IMG_9695But it sings no more as I’ve managed to pull out all its guts!IMG_9696 This is Lambmy-kins from Bemi. Once a fully stuffed plump lamb …IMG_9699 It’s all just skin now – no more guts. Sorry. At least we can still tell what he is.IMG_9700 And then there’s giraffe from another godmother, Jane. He looks ok but really …IMG_9697 His head has been emptied out and barely hanging on.IMG_9698 Ah, another one from Jane – a squirrel. I have never caught a real one so this is my make-believe. And he is a Christmas pressie still in tact.IMG_9694This is one of my early toys – it’s Pierre (rabbit) Pebble. His legs are almost chewed off.IMG_9704 And this is Portia (pig) Pebble. She’s missing a ear and slurped all over.IMG_9703 And an ostrich from Liz. He’s relatively new – was my Christmas present last year. IMG_9705His beak took the brunt of it.IMG_9707 And this is Bottle Cruncher Bunny from Sylvia. Only weeks old, so haven’t been attacked yet. IMG_9692Actually to tell you the truth, I don’t destroy them as much any more.  Look at Yellow Dog from Tracey – besides a slightly chewed ear, pretty much still in tact! photo 2-48Now that’s pretty good self-control.

Last but not least, this is Teddy – he has a little patch on his heart. I had him first and he has always been my favourite. He has suffered a bit from my ignorant youth – his arms and legs are well chewed but now I nibble with love and never quite tear him apart.IMG_9708He is the one I squeak when I get excited about going out for walkies. Sometimes I ask to take him on our walks. IMG_9062

And then there are these guys here, all lined up are my look-alikes. I have never ever touched any of them. Maybe because they look too much like me to chew up or maybe I can’t really tell if they are real!!!IMG_9709There are many balls and pulls in my toy basket but they don’t get attacked like the animals do!  I guess balls are meant for chasing and pulls are meant for pulling. It’s all the stuffed animals that are meant for chewing!

  1. Haha I love the casualties in your toy box miss darcy, they are much like Ralph and Ruby’s – although I would say yours are still more identifiable xx
