I wasn’t even home for 20 hours before Mum and I left for one last staycation before national lockdown number 2!
This time we checked into L’oscar Hotel in Bloomsbury.
Mum was immediately awed by the interiors as we entered. It reminded her a lot of Hotel Costes – that’s because it is the same interior designer.
As we are close to lockdown there were very few guests and I got all the attention from the staff.
The corona rules were set in place.

We took a peek in the grand Library Room.
And at the very top of the building where it was once a chapel is now a grill restaurant. And The Baptist Bar!!! LOL!

I think Mum enjoyed the stay – and I felt very welcomed and had lots of attention. Dogs are most welcomed but we cannot dine in the restaurants.
However the spaces in the reception and lobby lounge are so lovely, we actually preferred to dine in them.
The hotel is located in Holborn, quite a busy commercial area, but the staff told us of a nearby neighbourhood park where we went for our walks.
Really special place. When in London and in need of a dog-friendly place to stay … check this out.
But they must get Jacques Garcia to design their own dog bed.
May’s comment: I’ve been self-isolating for six weeks except for one night in the hospital. So as we go into lockdown number two, and my travel buddy back home, I thought it might be good for the head to have a change of scenery for a night.
I found L’oscar Hotel quite by accident as I was on Mr and Mrs Smith. When I found out that the interiors is by one of my favourite interior designers, Studio Jacques GARCIA, I had to go check it out.
The building in which it resides was built between 1901 and 1903. The Baroque-style, grade II listed building was formerly the London headquarters of the Baptist Church.
But with dwindling church congregation, the building closed its doors to church goers in 1961. It was miraculously revived in 2012 and today it is the L’oscar Hotel where the old church building has new devotions. The velvet and leather interiors, seven-storey chandelier,
sumptuously-decorated bedrooms lends “a hint of irreverence, a nod towards decadence, a touch of the risqué.“
Have you noticed that there are lots of birds?
Apparently there are 250 of these Lalique woodpecker and a parrots all over the hotel.
And lots of peacocks too.
That was a nice break. Now we return home and ready for another lockdown!
This was not gifted. Since we could not travel during the pandemic, we took the opportunity to check out some of London’s best hotels for a little change of scenery – and also to help out. Every place we stayed at followed the corona virus regulations and we felt safe.
We even ventured further afield to The Cotswolds but that was as far as we got till another lockdown was imposed.

Looks like a great place. So sorry that you are once again in lockdown. If it’s any consolation Victoria has just come out of six weeks lockdown, and it seems to have worked very well. My wish is that the same will be true for you too.❤️❤️❤️
