Truly Dog-friendly Staycation

Another week, another staycation as we continue not to travel abroad. And we love discovering yet another dog friendly hotel in the capital city.

This time we went a little further east to Holborn. We’ve been to The Rosewood Hotel a few times for their Art Afternoon Tea but this time we decided to stay.

We love the sense of arrival …

And then you find yourself in this beautiful quiet oasis …

To the left of the courtyard is the Macallan Manor House. We walked past dripping willow trees and delicate Scottish heathers into a secret retreat where we had lunch.

The selection of pies on the menu from The Pie Room caught Mum’s eye. And mine too!

We were warmly greeted on arrival …

And look who we met on our way in? That’s Coco!

Coco is only 7 months. She comes to work every day and delighted to greet all pooches.

Aha! But she is not the only “pooch in residence”?

There are two “still life” bull dogs guarding the elevator banks.

Woohoo!!!! Another staycation, another hotel, another fun hallway to do our happy dance!

Look! They even personalised a mat for me!

Mum takes her staycations seriously. She stayed in and watched her latest series ‘A Place to Call Home’ the whole afternoon till when we went to meet Rusty and Martine for dinner at the Holborn Dining Room.

There was little room for three dogs under the table so they brought a cushion for little George to sit on the bench.

And there, George sat quietly throughout dinner.

Mum and Martine enjoyed after dinner Macallan whiskies sitting in the courtyard.

Look who came by to say hello!

We also joined Mum for breakfast at the Dining Room. From where we sat, we could see the chef busily making pies in the Pie Room where we had walked past earlier.

As always, Mum ordered a couple of sausages for us!

But all fine dining didn’t stop there. Rosewood London’s Art Afternoon Tea in the Mirror Room was much heralded.

We’ve had a few afternoon teas at The Mirror Room over the years – and it was only right to complete the staycation with their themed Afternoon Tea. Since the 20th May, they’ve launched a brand new Art Afternoon Tea inspired by the upcoming exhibition at the Tate Modern – ‘Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirror Rooms’. Executive Pastry Chef Mark Perkins have combined unique Japanese flavours with traditional French pastry and patisserie, to express Yayoi Kusama’s contemporary works.

There was of course the scones.

Mum shared a teeny weeny bite of it.

But all staycations must come to an end and as we left Rosewood London, we were encouraged to know that there are places like this in our own capital city that really treated us with respect and consideration.

May’s comment: Much to our delight, The Rosewood Hotel turned out to be the most dog-welcoming hotel in London! There were no restaurants where dogs were not allowed. We dined at every venue and would have sat in the bar to listen to live music.

Lunch in the covered terrace of The Macallan Manor House – the best Scotch Egg ever! Followed by a curry pie from The Pie Room. Pies all made onsite.

Dinner and breakfast in The Holborn Dining Room, a grand brasserie.

Afternoon Tea in the lovely Mirror Room. Since the theme was of Japanese art, I had a matcha tea. And it was ceremoniously served.

Darcy and George joined me at every dining venue. There is no size limit and no extra charges for dog guests.

The grand and gracious Rosewood London is an idyllic urban sanctuary, an atmosphere of quiet sophistication and unsurpassed luxury. Located at 252 High Holborn, London WC1V 7EN, it is close to Covent Garden.
