It always creeps up on me, that moment when summer quietly fades and autumn slips in. The evenings draw shorter, the air turns sharper, and suddenly I’m reaching for jumpers and blankets. I don’t mind it, though. Something about this change of season feels like an invitation to slow down and make things cosy again.
For me, it begins with the fire. Not the crackle of logs, but the steady, golden glow of the gas flames. Within seconds, the room feels transformed — warm, inviting, cocoon-like. As we snuggle up in front of the fire, the world outside might as well not exist.
And then there’s whisky. Autumn has always felt like whisky season — amber in a glass, smooth and warming from the inside out. On my shelf sits one particularly special bottle, painted by Alice of @DogsDogsCatsDogs, with Darcy’s face shining back at me. Every time I lift it down, her eyes seem to meet mine. That bottle isn’t just whisky — it’s memory, comfort, and a piece of her that still glows in the room, as steady as the flames in the fire.

So as the nights lengthen, I’ll be here: flame-lit evenings, dogs at my feet, glass in hand, and Darcy’s memory keeping watch. Autumn isn’t only about cooler nights or earlier sunsets. It’s about the rituals that make life feel grounded — the glow of firelight, the warmth of a sip, and the reminder that love doesn’t fade with the seasons.
I love my whisky, which makes Autumn evenings so much cosier.
And then there’s the treat jar. This one is for all my lovelies.
