Thank you, Ma’am.

For last couple of weeks, we have seen Union Jacks appearing everywhere! And I proudly donned the limited edition Union Jack bowtie from Distinguished Dog Company – and fitted right into the landscape.

We couldn’t wait for last Thursday to come along to begin the four days of Jubilee celebrations.

The day began with watching on telly the Trooping of the Colour which had for over 260 years marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign.  It was quite a spectacular show and I was happy to see the three little Cambridges on their way to the event – Hello George!

But as soon as we saw Her Majesty appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, it was time to go outside to find a place to watch the flypast.

We joined the tens of thousands of people on the streets and finding a place to watch the flypast was not easy. We couldn’t get onto Green Park and all along Picadilly were thousands of people – all with the same idea.

We finally managed to squeeze onto the side of the traffic island where the Welllington Arch stands. There were a lot of flags and hats. As we waited, we heard the 82-gun salute. We knew the time of the fly past would be soon. And then they came, the aircrafts, all 70 of them flying in perfect formation up The Mall over Buckingham Palace. The crowds cheered when the RAF jets flew over in a formation of “7-0”. And then came the roar of excitement when the Red Arrows flew across the skies with red, white and blue coloured smoke. It was truly spectacular and nothing like watching it live!

There were street parties everywhere! Little Tyke joined us at the Kings Road Street Party.

And there were Jubilee cakes to enjoy – for humans and doggies!

Not exactly the Gold Stage Coach – but we posed with a substitute at Scott’s.

Mum with Mr. Darcy and one of the Scott’s staff held me.

So, along with our friends, Mr. Darcy and Elmo, we three dudes celebrated one amazing woman! Who through the decades have been a constant for the majority of us who are alive.

And what a start to the Platinum Party at Buckingham Palace! A cameo appearance by The Queen herself, starring next to Paddington Bear!

She could have had an acting career if she wasn’t so busy being Queen for seven decades!

And finally, the words from a President that sums up how we feel about her constant dedication to service.

Your Majesty, it would be an understatement to say the world has changed a bit in the seven decades since you first came to power. But your character never has. Your steadfast stewardship of one of our most important democracies has made the world safer and more prosperous through war and peace, times of adversity, and times of prosperity. Your life has been a gift, not just to the United Kingdom, but for the world.’ (President Barack Obama)

May’s comments: This was the Platinum Jubilee message from the Queen –

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in convening communities, families, neighbours and friends to mark my Platinum Jubilee, in the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth. I know that many happy memories will be created at these festive occasions.

I continue to be inspired by the goodwill shown to me, and hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved during the last seventy years, as we look to the future with confidence and enthusiasm.

ELIZABETH R.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, Ma’am! And to you we say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU.
