Away in a log cabin

Something different this Christmas from our Nordic adventure last year…

We set off this Christmas Eve morning for Loose Reins in the Dorset countryside. On the way stopped in to visit with Hebe and Blaze – to wish them a Merry Christmas.

Hebe, Blaze, me and George
Are you sure we are going for just four nights?

Jane drove us to Loose Reins, an American Riding Ranch in Dorset – making sure we’re all settled before she left us … !

This is our log cabin, Rancher
Oh wow! I think we’ll be ok here!
The kitchenette – check out the kettle and gas oven
A jar of brownies for Mum and a jar of treats for us.

At the other end of the cabin …

The King size bed
with the American quilt

The bathroom –

Look at the bucket for toilet flush!!!
And a welcoming hamper of goodies! OK, Mum thought she might starve – think we’ll be alright!
Er, Darcy, have you read the Dogs Guide to Loose Reins Country?

No dogs on furniture, the bed and we must be in the leash when outside!

Here’s George who managed to find the badger burrow and escaped to the other side of the fence!!!!!!!! Aaaaugh – said Mum.

We’ve broken every rule within the first seconds of being here!

That’s because there are other livestock – horses, goats, chicken …
And whatever this is!
That’s our cabin!

May’s comment: In the beautiful corner of North Dorset is called The Blackmore Vale, and there is Loose Reins – a riding ranch! Embracing the pioneer spirit, the three cabins open for guests is that of American log cabins – with the authentic American quilt, woodburner and everything cosy about it.

And just in case you are in need of sustenance, this is an honour system – where you can sign out for groceries and snacks.

Loose Reins is all about finding and enjoying that feeling, about discovering some wind-down time and enjoying the simple things in life. A perfect antidote after the busy weeks leading up to Christmas.

Wishing you a peaceful Christmas Eve!
