A fun video to celebrate Darcy on her second heavenly birthday.
She wore them well but she didn’t dress to impress.
She was beautiful just the way she was.
But now she wears her angel wings.
HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY, DARCY.
May’s comment: As a friend said to me recently, that the day of her passing was not the most important day of Darcy’s life. That I should celebrate the day she entered this world and to give thanks for the day we met. And so we shall, each year, for as long as I can – to always remember this day.
Memories of all the birthdays we had celebrated –

From her first birthday when we haven’t met any other cockapoos or other dog owners for that matter. By her second birthday we had just started the Hyde Park Cockapoos – and we celebrated with the first few members of the Meet. By her third birthday we had a parteee!!!!

The next few, we went to the beach at Sand Banks, to the Yorkshire Dales and to Rutland where my cockapoo story began.

We were back to big gatherings – had an Afternoon Tea Party at Egerton House – at that time not a whole lot of places would host 13 dogs and 12 humans!

Her 8th birthday was at The Cliveden House – and till this day, the staff at The Astor Grill still talks about that birthday party!

Her 9th Birthday was the only one when we were not together. She was at the House of Mutt – having a ball!
And her 10th was during lockdown …

Last year, George and I observed her first Heavenly Birthday when she would have been 11. We went to the countryside, away from all the hustle and bustle to look for Darcy’s star in the wide open skies.

This year we will sit at her bench for reflection, eat cake and light a candle. The first of everything sad is always the hardest.

I still miss her terribly. During the days when George was away while I was home alone recovering from the knee op, there were many nights when I held onto a Jelly Cat “Cockapoo” and shed buckets of tears. And though time doesn’t fill the void nor take away the moments of grief, time gives us a chance to learn acceptance. With acceptance, we stop with the regrets. When the regrets no longer haunt us, we can begin to look back and remember those special days. On significant days like this one, we will always stop and reflect. To give thanks for her life – all ten years and 27 days of it, for all the moments we had shared, and what she still means to me today.
