Are you Italian? No we’re Chucs

It’s Thursday and it’s Restaurant Review Day.  Today we’ll tell you about two different Chucs on three different occasions.

First, there’s the original Chucs – an all day Restaurant & Cafe in the heart of Mayfair. Chucs is a spin-off from the men’s swimwear store next door, thus the nautical theme with staff wearing themed uniforms.

Dogs are not allowed inside the rather small space – it was one of those warm Autumnal days Deliciousness was served … As traffic whizzed by along Dover Street. The good thing about this Chucs – it’s close to Green Park. So after lunch we went for a walk – nice!However, all is not lost on finding a properly dog-friendly Chucs – we ventured to their latest venture in Notting HillThis Chucs is also associated with the chic menswear store, just like the one in Mayfair. In Notting Hill, there’s an Italian coffee bar and the menswear store upstairs.  We had to go down the stairs to the restaurant.As we were there in the summer, we sat in the back garden – which was quite lovely.Except that one plant peeking out from behind a wall was a bit worrying.Hmmm. Just a flowering plant.But early one day last week, as the weather was changing, we had to be in Notting Hill. Since Chucs serves an all day menu, Mummy thought to try their breakfast as well.Yup! I know where we need to go –Oops! Wrong way – that’s the way to the looAhhh, this is where we sit – in the conservatory.This is also where we can sit in the evenings – as there are only three tables, we would need to make sure to book a table and let them know four-legged diners are to be expected.So, breakfast, eh?Matcha egg white protein pancakes with a yoghurt and berry compote – anything to justify a “healthy” start to the day.They sensed that I was going to be there for a long while so the brought me a bowl of water …
Finally, we headed upstairs – to daylight! And someone was happy to see me!

Chucs in Notting Hill is an off-shoot of the original Mayfair 50s-style menswear boutique and restaurant and café concept on Dover Street. The Mayfair restaurant is “dog-friendly” but outdoor seating only.

The Notting Hill off-shoot allow dogs in their back garden and in the conservatory.  Chucs menswear collection is also housed on the ground floor of the venue.

When I asked them if it is an Italian restaurant, they rather be classified as Modern Cuisine.  In any case, absolutely delicious and the matcha pancakes – highly recommended!  Located at 226 Westbourne Grove, London W11 2RH
