Seriously, George?

IMG_3893

Stanley and his mummy invited us to a Pet Blessing service at All Saints Church in Fulham yesterday. We were purposefully early so that we could go for a run at Bishop’s Park nearby.

As you know we haven’t been out on a big walk all day Saturday. And I haven’t been out for a walk since last Wednesday so the pent-up energy was …IMG_3883waiting to be released!!!  While Stanley was sniffing around, IMG_3882we never stopped running.

We ran and ran and ran IMG_3890When Coco another Cockapoo came to see what we were doing, George soon got her to chase him and outrunning her! IMG_3884 There were just brief moments of checking out each other …IMG_3887 Stanley stopping to greet CocoIMG_3888 But soon we were off againIMG_3889 And then George did what we feared he might do.  He came back the first few times we called him and then …IMG_3893he slipped through the fence and ran into Fulham Palace grounds where dogs are not allowed. He ran amongst the thick undergrowth and he ran back and forth.  After awhile he stopped and sat under a tree – waiting for his “damn” (that was Mummy swearing!!!!) squirrels!IMG_3895 Mummy couldn’t run after him so Annie had to go look for him – going a long way around the fence. Mummy could see him and kept calling but he had no intention of coming back.

In the meantime Stanley and I were back on the lead and got tied to the fence for fear that I might try to slip through to find George and Stanley might try to go after his mummy!!!IMG_3894Yes, it was quite a concern and we had the Pet Blessing service to go to.  George darted back and forth when he saw Annie going towards him. Mummy told Annie not to call his name because he knows what it meant – we’re going and he had to come.  Finally after a while, when Annie did not call his name, he went towards her and was caught by the scruff of his neck.IMG_3896Not a good thing to do Georgie.  Instead of getting blessed, we think you need to confess your sins!

After the church service we went back to Stanley’s house where we took over Stanley’s bed …IMG_3936while he sat on the floor. IMG_3935Then we were allowed in their lovely garden.IMG_3942 We had a good run around but after awhile I come indoors IMG_3940And so did Stanley. But George was nowhere to be found.  Annie said – there’s nowhere he can go as there is six-foot high walls all around.

So Mummy went out looking for him when he scurried from the far corner.  He still wouldn’t come, something had his attention. When Mummy followed him to the corner, she saw Georgie jumping up against the wall – he was about 2 feet from reaching the top of it!!!! She could not believe her eyes! What was he trying to do? Run away!?!?!? Think we better put him back on the leash and never out of sight.  But just in case, Georgie, Calais is down south if you want to go back to Hungary.

May’s comment: We weren’t sure if he had enough or maybe after a while he was scared. His heart was palpitating.  My guess is that he was probably tired and there were no squirrels so he gave up. That little devil – still too smart for his own good!

And jumping up against the wall? What on earth was he thinking!!! Still can’t totally trust him!

  1. After 6 years Maggie will occasionally do this if she feels she has not been out long enough. She will come close but not close enough to catch! Little madam.

  2. Ah, Georgie… It’s that terrier in you, I suspect! Sounds so like my dear Jodie. She couldn’t ‘t resist a hunt now and again… The genes take over! Perhaps a squirrel had gone over the garden wall, that had attracted your attention…or s bird perhaps?
