It’s been almost five weeks since Our Little Warrior, Ember had her surgery to mend the serious injuries incurred during a dog attack.
All her metatarsals were smashed and she had multiple wounds all over her leg.
She was also in severe shock and she almost didn’t make it.
After stabilising her injuries they consulted with Eden Vets as to her further treatment.
She was operated on in late February. They pinned her bones together to heal.
Despite everything, she was her happy self. Her recovery showed a lot of promise as her damaged leg was already weight bearing.
But she needed to be contained and not over do it.
We were all keeping our paws crossed but a recent vet visit gave us the news that her two outer metatarsals are unlikely to heal.
We were all hoping for a miracle. But sometimes the miracles come in different ways.
Firstly, Ember is alive. That itself is a miracle. She had survived a horrific dog attack. It is a miracle that Danielle was there to give her a forever home. Though the news seem disappointing now, let’s keep looking for those everyday miracles and there will be many others along the way.
May’s comment: We heard about Ember’s horrific incident a few weeks ago. When her owners couldn’t afford her vet bills, Danielle, the nurse at the vet decided to adopt her and to care for her.
We all had hope that given the best medical care, that maybe, just maybe Ember’s injuries would heal. She was given the best veterinary care possible but her injuries were just too severe.
But we continue to live in hope and to continue to believe in everyday miracles.
In communication with Ember’s owner, I know that the medical costs to date (£4582.84) had already exceeded what was raised in Go Fund Me and she still needs treatment and rehabilitation.
