Mum’s buying into the saying – “the Early Bird catches the worm.”
Can you believe that every day for the last 30 days we have been having breakfast at 6.30am?
Yup! Mum’s been getting up early except for a couple of Saturdays and Sundays? And some off days like when it’s been really hot and humid and she didn’t sleep well (or stayed up binge watching a series.)
Unlike days before her new “Miracle Morning” routine, she doesn’t just get up and then sits at the desk. She has a routine of meditation, affirmations, visualisation. She does stretches and when she does Jumping Jacks George and I – we run to hide or take refuge with each other. I have never known her to be so active at home.

Then there are parts of her routine that we love – when she makes herself something to drink and sits on the sofa with a book by the reading lamp. George and I would immediately get on the sofa, and we all sit quietly as the world begins to wake up.

And as the days get cooler, our blanket might come in handy.

We’re not sure how long this will last but the sooner we have our breakfast is always good for us.
May’s comment: I had read The Miracle Morning and decided to take up the 30-day challenge. It became another ‘Lockdown/Stay Alert‘ to-do list.
I am not a morning person. But after 30 days, I do open my eyes at 6.30am but still hesitate getting out of bed, especially when Darcy is snuggled up on the right and George curled up on my left.
The routine in the morning begins with silence in meditation and spending time recalibrating and focusing my thoughts. It’s a quiet, positive start rather than rushing around. And when I sat down to read in the quiet of the morning, it was calming and peaceful. The world outside was still. People haven’t started leaving their homes to go to work yet. And there I sat by the reading light and how amazing that I was reading without falling asleep. I have never achieved finishing any books by reading in bed before going to sleep. It also involves some form of exercise. I chose to do stretches.
Well today, I made it to the 30th day! Getting out of bed early is still difficult but when I do, I love the serenity and the peacefulness of the early mornings. Those are the best 1.5 hours of the day before 9am comes along – and the day seems so much longer. This is not a regiment. I recognise the benefits and I do it for my own benefit – and the dogs get fed early!
And 30 days is because it takes that long for something to become a habit. Has anyone reading this done The Miracle Morning challenge?
But sleep is equally important so it means going to bed earlier -whichis easier said than done. Since Lockdown I have loved watching TV series and movies – bingeing it. Am going to try out some blue light blocking glasses – to be worn 90 minutes before going to sleep. Apparently the blue light emanating from all our electronic gadgets wake us up and keep us alert. Need whatever I can to make me go to sleep when I should so waking up the next morning will be less of a struggle! Will see how those glasses will help.
Just sharing this new ‘life changing’ routine – which means I am now accountable for keeping it up. 🙂

The Miracle Morning sounds like a good read! I can’t seem to get up any earlier than 7:15 am. I may have to invest in that book!
What a fantastic story, Miss Darcey has SUCH an interesting life. What does George think of things or doesn’t he think!
George? LOL! He observes and reacts! 🙂 But we are going to spend some time from now on to engage and see if he can change his ways.
