As we continued on our discover Scotland journey with Margaret’s Kitchen Chat, we had to show her two of Scotland’s well-known destinations at a Loch and a Golf Course!
First, Loch Lomond, one of the largest and most scenic freshwater lakes in Great Britain. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park covers a vast area of diverse landscapes including mountains, forests, and waterways.

Margaret and I took a boat ride on the peaceful and serene Loch. We sipped champagne and whisky while enjoying the stunning views.

We stayed at Cameron House, located on the southern tranquil shore of Loch Lomond. The historic estate dates back to the 18th century, combining a baronial style with contemporary elegance, offering a unique and inviting atmosphere.

They are dog-friendly and charges a fee per dog, per day. We were able to have Afternoon Tea in the Lobby Bar

and we could sit outside on the terrace at The Great Scots’ Bar with the dogs.

The only dining option with dogs is at La Vista restaurant at the marina. After a day of travelling and a boat ride, we opted to have in-room dining.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the award winning Executive Chef Rohan.

Whether you are drawn by the scenic beauty and outdoor adventures of Loch Lomond or the luxurious comforts and historic elegance of Cameron House, this offers a brilliant experience in the heart of Scotland.
Since Scotland is often regarded as the birthplace of golf, we had to show Margaret one of them. With a rich history that dates back to the 15th century, it is here that the modern rules of golf were first established. Our next stop, a golf course hotel, Gleneagles.
Established in 1924, Gleneagles is a luxury hotel with spa and one of the renowned golf courses of Scotland.

Another whiskey tasting experience.

We had the pleasure of walking the grounds admiring the views of the fairway but staying clear of all eagles!!! It is after all ‘Valley of Eagles’ for a reason. There were warning signs not to let small dogs run freely as one could swoop down and steal them.

There a wide range of dining options – from fine dining to casual, however, dogs are only allowed at The Garden Cafe. One had the option to hire a dog sitter from Little Royals Dog Sitting, the same company we used when at Balmoral in Edinburgh.
We were nearing the Summer Solstice and being so far north, the sky was light even close to midnight.

After a fast and furious four days in Scotland, we made our long journey back to London by train. Besides Cameron House and Gleneagles, we had visited a city hotel in Edinburgh,

A country hotel near Stirling.

It was a lot of travelling for four days. George, who by now is used to travelling with me, this is Lulu’s first time in Scotland, though not her longest trip. She did fly from Beijing to Europe, and we have recently been to Paris and Rotterdam. They were two tired pups on our way home.

– but that was not the end of our adventures with Margaret. More to come …
