Six month old Clemetis, otherwise called Clemmie came all the way from Marlow to meet and socialise at our Hyde Park Doodle meet this past weekend.
And we are very pleased to say that we had a helping hand in Clemmie being a part of our group.
Back in February, in the cold of winter, Clemmie didn’t exist then. Mummy’s friend, Niki had been thinking of getting a dog, about a year after her Myrtle, a cocker spaniel crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They were deliberating which breed to get when cockapoos came up on their radar. So we invited them to come and meet LOTS of cockapoos. Steve, Niki and their son Jack came to meet us as well as the owners to do some research and learn more about us.
They sure met lots of us and George … they asked lots of questions about us.
And then Gus happened to be walking past and got their attention.
They spoke to his owner and asked about the breeder and got all the information they needed.
They soon went about looking for a cockapoo. Six months later, here’s Clemmie!
This is Clemmie with her hooman brother, Jack. Clemmie is just a puppy so she still has a lot to learn.
After the meeting in the park, we took Clemmie for a pizza at Made in Italy on King’s Road
– another dog-friendly restaurant. That was some pizza the hoomans had.
And Clemmie was very good at learning how to sit quietly
But I was not such a good example for her.
I took a peek to see what’s left of the delicious pizza
And managed to get a piece of the crust!
Yum! Yum!
Clemmie came to stay the night with us. Well, we remembered that she’s only a pup and still learning petiquette
She’s another one who seems to want my teddy – so I stood guard.
Eventually she figured out where the toy basket was and she helped herself to ALL the toys
She spent a long time checking out every single toy in the basket
and only came up to take a breather
And in the meantime, while she was busy with digging out toys, George took his place on Niki’s lap and made Clemmie all jealous.
All the excitement finally tired out Clemmie as she fell asleep on the bottle rabbit!
The next day we went for a walk around the neighbourhood
and showed her our regular places
She’s getting the hang of being in a big city where there are lots of pavements.
Clemmie, you can come visit again any time! We know you will grow wiser and more tuned in to how things work in this great big world. That’s because Mummy would like you to come stay whenever your parents go away.
May’s comment: Niki and I go back a very long time. Yet I didn’t know she had dogs. Before I had Darcy, dogs were invisible to me. It was only after Darcy entered my life that I noticed Niki had a dog, Myrtle. While we had kept in touch through all the years, it was only because of our dogs that brought us to another level of connection.
We got to meet Myrtle a few times – and then she became ill and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge early last year. It took awhile before another dog was considered and we’re very happy now to have Clemmie in our circle of friends.
Clemmie is named after a plant, Clematis, just like Myrtle was.
