“D” stands for Didier! Didier and his mother Luz will be arriving in London later today!
I am very excited to be going to Heathrow with Mummy to meet them.
Mummy said she wouldn’t believe it’s until William Garcia Olano from Infantis Sanum Foundation, a Colombian based NOG sent this photo of Luz and Didier at Bogota airport.
May’s comment: Didier and his mother, Luz are on their way to London. Didier will participate in the crucial research for Congenital Melanocytic Nevus at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He will be meeting with Dr. Kinsler and Mr. Bulstrode who was in Bogota to observe his operation. This way when a cure has been found for CMN, Didier will benefit from the research.
Their flight has been sponsored by Avianca Airlines, made possible with William Garcia Olano’s help. William is with Infantis Sanum Foundation, a local NGO. They helped Didier and his mother Luz to get their passports and visas – took a long while! and finally they are on their way to London – arriving this afternoon.
A South American family in London with a child who has CMN will be hosting them at their home during the days they are here.
Didier and Luz will also meet members of Caring Matters Now, the support group for CMN sufferers. Besides being a part of the crucial CMN research, they will also meet many other families with the same condition – that friendships may form and though far away, they will receive support. Caring Matters Now are partially sponsoring his medical costs at GOSH and have also set up a Just Giving page for Didier for anyone who wants to help with his ongoing need for medical care – Just Giving for Didier
Other friends and well-wishers are also contributing to their few days in London.
To raise awareness of CMN, Didier along with GOSH’s Dr. Veronica Kinsler and Jodi Whitehouse from Caring Matters Now will be on air on SKY News and ITV Morning Show on Thursday.
Only hours to go before we can give Luz and Didier a hug! So excited for Didier to meet Darcy. Miss Darcy will be very much a part of their week long activities.
