Today we light the first candle on the menorah.
Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish friends!
And it is also the second Advent Sunday – so we had two more candles to light.
May’s comment: To commemorate Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday, we light a candle each night for eight successive nights.
No, we don’t celebrate every holiday. I had spent many years living with a Jewish family when in New York and then my ex- of many years was Jewish. So for a lot of my adult life, I had celebrated Hanukkah. And I wish to remember the Jewish holidays fondly with the “extended” families who have been and still are a part of my life.

How lovely to celebrate the special times of other religions and ethnic groups. Happy whatever you’re celebrating this weekend I celebrated my 70th Birthday yesterday does that count ??

I think that we may have caused a fire hazard in the restaurant if we had lit that many candles all at once.
