Multiple candles

IMG_7360

Today we light the first candle on the menorah.

IMG_6847Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish friends!

And it is also the second Advent Sunday – so we had two more candles to light.IMG_7365May’s comment:  To commemorate Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday, we light a candle each night for eight successive nights.

No, we don’t celebrate every holiday. I had spent many years living with a Jewish family when in New York and then my ex- of many years was Jewish.  So for a lot of my adult life, I had celebrated Hanukkah. And I wish to remember the Jewish holidays fondly with the “extended” families who have been and still are a part of my life.

Happy Hanukkah to all who light the candles on the menorah.

  1. How lovely to celebrate the special times of other religions and ethnic groups. Happy whatever you’re celebrating this weekend I celebrated my 70th Birthday yesterday does that count ??

  2. I love the fact that you celebrate Hanukkah and advent! A celebration on light!!!

  3. No I didn’t,
I think that we may have caused a fire hazard in the restaurant if we had lit that many candles all at once.
