May’s comment: In Tom Flach’s book, “DOGS” he writes, “The thing about dogs, the special something that they literally hold in our eyes over all other animals, is that they can look at you and they seem to understand you. They look keenly. A cat won’t even sustain a glance for long even when mewing for its supper, but a dog will make eye contact and hold it.”
