Somethin’s Changin …

They say change is the only constant.

In a few days time, our blog website will be changing! We are getting a long overdue makeover!

We had found out quite by accident that this very archaic blog website is about to become obsolete. When our readers were telling us that they no longer receive alerts, or they seem to have been unsubscribed, and they couldn’t contact us via the blog – alarm bells were ringing. As Mum hasn’t a clue about the technology in the backend, there was a slight PANIC!!!

The decision to finally revamp and update the blog site became another lockdown project – an unexpected one. But in the nick of time.

And so towards the end of this week – when you read another of our blog posts, it will all look quite different and we hope you will like it as much as we do.

We would love your feedback – but in the meantime, Mum has a few things to ask of you …

May’s comment: When I decided to write Miss Darcy’s Adventures, a blog using Darcy as my voice, I had been writing my own blog – an experiential documenting of transitioning life at age 50 – from Corporate America to one of ‘smelling the roses’ and doing things I have always wanted to do.

As in my first blog, Miss Darcy’s Adventures was always intended to be a personal journey, learning to live with and love a dog, my first dog. I had no idea that behind the blog stories is something called the ‘backend’ that involved a lot of technology! I had to pay someone to help me set up on WordPress, who eased me into basic things like hosting platforms, tags, and other basic stuff. I had wondered how anyone would find my blog in this ever expanding world of social media. Anyhow, I never gave it much thought except to write the stories and shared the links on my various Facebook groups – which was the only thing I knew how to use. Seven years on, things were starting to go awry and knew I had to seek further assistance. It was then I soon learnt that the current template is about to be discontinued. PANIC!

What I also realised that when blogging, just writing content isn’t enough. You need backend programmes – all of which is gobbled gook to me.

As the template is about to be discontinued, a few of the features have not been updated which meant some important things such as the subscriber list has been lost. However, I have the emails of all of you who have commented on our stories over the past seven years. What I will do is to send an email to everyone on that list to announce the launch of a new site and it will ask if you choose to unsubscribe. Please bear with us.

In addition, if any of you seem to have been unsubscribed, please let me know if you wish to be added. You can provide your info in the Comments after this, or message me on Darcy’s Facebook Page or on Instagram.

We thank you for being on this journey with us – and we hope our new look will bring as much joy as this basic and simple WordPress template have done over the last seven years. We look forward to hearing from you.

I wondered where you had disappeared to! This is my first email alert for a while, so just want to make sure that I continue to get updates. Enjoy reading about Darcy and George. I have a mischievous black poodle called Charley.
Thanks for all your hard work as a dog advocate, Mae.
