DAWG Staycations!

IMG_5768

This time around, we doodles are out in force at the House of Mutt!

My staycations there means I get to be DAWG!

Every day we go for two walks to the nearby fields …

Later in the day, we get into the car to go to the woods or a run on the beach.

Out in the open fields we run …

Running with the hounds

And we walk as a pack

C’mon Sarah! We don’t have all day!

We run in the woods

Hi Ho! Hi Ho! To the woods we go …

Er, I am just going to explore in here, ok?

Can you imagine George being let free here? That’s one reason he doesn’t come with me – it’s sort of wasted on him.

When out in the countryside where there is no shelter … we go with the elements.

If it gets too hot, we just go for a little dip in any puddles – big or small and no one shouting after me – “DON’T YOU DARE!”

And sometimes we get caught in a downpour.

Oh hi! Different hairdo from when we arrived. LOL!

Isn’t it all about living in the moment and taking things as they come?

We have to leave now?

I really don’t mind getting all wet. Out here there are no Equafleeces and no one frets about my hairdo.

Quite a different look going home. LOL!

Once back at House of Mutt, we get our bathrobes to dry down! It really is quite civilised. We are after all city dogs having a staycation in the countryside. LOL!

As for George, he is having a bromance with Stanley, as well as Andrew for that matter.

He and Stanley have the best cuddles together. They are practically inseparable.

They play together in their large walled-in garden. There’s absolutely no chance of George escaping, though one time we have found George in the far corner of the garden trying to leap as high as he could when he saw a squirrel up in a tree. He actually leapt quite high, obviously not eight-feet high but what a rascal!

It’s been almost three weeks now since we all went our separate ways. But in a week’s time, I’ll be hopping my way home!!!!

George will stay with Stanley for a couple more weeks till Mum is off her crutch. So it will be a few more weeks before we’re together again. In the meantime, different kinds of staycations suited to our needs.

May’s comment: Different staycations for each of them.

Miss D loves being ‘dawg’ – to run free and live in the elements.

OK, why would she want to come home to our little flat in the city?

She’ll be home in a week – counting the days. By then I should be confident walking with one crutch – only as a precaution so passersby will avoid me and use it to keep others 2m away.

There is no way George can free freely at the House of Mutt – he might be gone for days! That means he’s on leash the whole time they are out walking. That was what happened the last time he was there.

So even when they go for walkies with Stanley, George is securely on an extendable lead!

But George loves being with Stanley – it’s been good for the both of them. He is so happy at theirs being entertained in the garden, looking for adventures and then playing with Stanley and snuggling up together every night.

I did get to see George briefly as Annie and Andrew walked him up and we met at a neighbourhood cafe – sitting at different tables as London is a Tier 2 Covid zone.

Ahhh, the familiar tooth!

I am not sure he wants to come home, to be honest. I think he would happily live with them for the rest of his life.

Now I know how parents must feel when their children rather spend time at their friend’s home. Noted.

  1. I’m glad you are on the mend, getting old does have its challenges!
Darcy certainly is having the time of her life, and George is really enjoying the attention and snuggles.
It’s comforting to know you have wonderful places to take care of your fur babies, makes your recuperation so much easier.

  2. It is so much fun to see Darcy enjoying herself in the fields and woods of the House of Mutt! Watching George cuddle with Stanley lets us know he is comfortable during his time away from you. It will be so great when all three of you are back together again! Get 100% better, May!
